This part of the upper River Barrow is mainly a 'wild trout fishery' the angling season is from the 17th of Mar to 30th of Sept. Derryounce Lakes Fishery is a fly only stocked trout fishery open all year round with 2 lake covering 40 aces. Club permits / membership for both river & lake are available from:
Portarlington Auto Parts, Main Street, & Finlay's Lounge, Bracklone Street, Portarlington, Co Laois. we always welcomes new members.

The Portarlington Angling Club AGM is scheduled for Wednesday the 27th of March at 7:00 pm in the, Portarlington Community Centre, The Link Road, R32 D797

River and PAC Derryounce Lakes Fishery permits / membership will be available as they can no longer be purchased in the Port Auto Parts in the town.

All members are asked to attend and the stocking of the lakes needs to be discussed amongst other topics.

Important CLUB MEETING RESCHEDULE to Friday the 23rd of February @ 7 pm in the Portarlington Community Centre.

I would urge all members to attend as the ten year development plan for Derryounce was sent during the week and needs to be discussed urgently. By the looks of the plan, the angling club was given little or no consideration in the plan.

Portarlington Angling Club update

Following a club meeting on the Wednesday 31st May, Eddie Ryan has kindly agreed to take on the position of club secretary.

Eddie joins Kieran Madden and John Brady who were re-elected to their roles as Chairman and Treasurer respectively, at the AGM held on the 22 April.

The club wishes him well in his new role.

Portarlington Angling Club AGM will be held on Wednesday 23rd of February in the community centre at 8pm . This is a very important meeting as a new committee must be formed. All members are requested to attend new members are more than welcome.

The club would like to acknowledge that we are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of P.J. (Pat Jo),Dunne and express our deepest sympathies to the Dunne family during this difficult time. P.J. was an absolute gentleman,a fine angler and a credit to the Angling club . He is in our thoughts and prayers and will truly be missed.

Access to the lake from the Eddenderry Road will not be possible over the next few days as ongoing works on the 2km lane to the lake are completed. The works will hopefully be completed as swiftly as possible and a notice will go up upon completion so please do not attempt to access the lake via the lane until further notice. Apologies for any inconvenience caused
