Have you watched the HBO documentary on Warren Buffet?

Warren Buffet, Chairperson of Berkshire Hathaway, 92 years old, net worth 111.6 Billion USD (2023, Forbes).

In the documentary he said that the only qualification or certificate on the wall in his office is his cert for completing a public speaking course with Dale Carnegie. That our ability to communicate, and becoming confident in speaking is the key to our personal and career success.

Dale Carnegie is the author of 'The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking, and How to Win Friends and Influence People'.

Two books I would highly recommend for development in this area.

Or if you wish to engage in development in the best way possible - in person, as Warren did back in the hay days with Dale. I am running a course called 'Speaking with Confidence' starting June 12th.

Happy 6th day of 2023 & Nollaig na mBan,

Most of you will know by now I've been working with people on a one to one basis in the Portarlington Enterprise Centre, Co Laois in 2022.

Since the day I walked in I've had my eyes set on a training room for a Hearty Humans’ course and on the 6th of next month 'Speaking with Confidence' will commence. Yay!!! Yeeeeeehaw 😂

It gives me a huge sense of joy to make use of a great facility.

'Speaking with Confidence' is an 8 week practical course for those seeking measurable improvement in personal or professional communications.

More details will follow over the coming days and weeks.

Never underestimate your essence 💫

You are the ‘end product or thousands of years of human evolution’. I read this in a book a few years ago and in the moment I first read this fact it woke up every cell in my body.

Research tells us that when people listen to us, 55% of our communication is body language. 38% is voice tone/rhythm/expression and a mere 7% is words/language used.

Before you begin to voice what you have to say, check in with that 55% which is your whole body, your entire being, your energy, your essence. Measure it. And if possible make even a little change to feel a bit better.

💫Breathe.

💫Skip. Do something silly…

💫Sing.

💫Hum.

💫Smile.

💫Set an intention.

💫Ask why is this important?

💫Be grateful.

Make a point of saying YES to every opportunity to speak in public.

I do... with the aim of developing my own skills and confidence, and to be an example of courage and growth for others.

These photos were taken of an opportunity to speak to a local TV station serving Mariupol, Ukraine. We sat beside the city's Drama Theatre that was reported as being destroyed. You cannot imagine our shock and sadness. I'm posting these pictures not only to make a point about growth in communications but also to recognise the beautiful people and exceptionally warm hospitality we received in Ukraine.
