Westmeath & District Motor Club Glenidan Hillclimb 2026 Sunday Round 8 of the Alekto Irish Hillclimb & Sprint Championship.

Shane Bell has blown the field away in Run 2 of the Westmeath & District Motorclub Hillclimb with a blistering time of 55.340. Siobhan McCann as moved up to 2nd almost 1 second behind Shane with a 56.290. Barry Morris went quicker on Run 2 with a time of 57.110 to retain 3rd overall. It’s Minis all the way in the junior class with Logan Hoey leading the way on 1:10.450 Keenan Murphy is now just 0.4 seconds back in 2nd with Leah Keane a further 2.5 seconds back in 3rd. Selected Class leaders after Run 2 : Robert Cummins (1B), Brian Kirwan (3B), Stephen Faughan (10), Christopher Snow (2), Tommy Gardiner (3B)

It’s tight at the top after Run 1 of the Westmeath & District Motorclub Hillclimb Weekend with just over 0.1 of a second separating the Top 3! Brian Kirwan leads the way with a 57.720 with Shane Bell in 2nd on 57.760. Barry Morris sits in 3rd on 57.850. There is an exciting afternoon of racing ahead!!

Isn't it a thing of beauty! (The R5 not Declan🤣) after a few weeks of a break we are back this weekend in Co. Westmeath and who better to kick off the 2nd half of the season in our "Meet the Competitor" section than the quiet man of the paddock.. Mr Declan Gannon!!

John Hackett RIP

The Hackett family would like to thank most sincerely Johns hillclimb friends for all your support during our recent loss of John. Thank you to Tommy Gardiner for posting Johns death on the Hillclimb page and letting Johns friends in motorsport know of his untimely demise.

Thank you to Senan O'Connor for sharing the lovely videos of John in his "Happy Place" .John would have been well chuffed.
Thank you to all who drove long distances to offer your condolences it is greatly appreciated.
