🚂🎉 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 ! 🎉🚂

We’re delighted to report that our 'Inclusive Train Playground Project' is now complete! We received our Independent Safety Report and handover documentation on Monday morning, marking another exciting milestone for Corribdale Park.

While we’re still waiting for a section of the tarmac pathway between the kids playground and the train to be re-laid (thanks to some persistent rainwater ponding!), we didn’t want to keep everyone waiting any longer. This morning, Gerry removed construction barriers & swept the area - the train is open for passengers to experience !

So grab the kids and come along to take the new train for a spin. 🚂😊

A word of warning for parents and grandparents: while the train is designed for children of all abilities to enjoy, the "engine power" appears to come entirely from the grown-ups! We suspect the manufacturers cleverly designed it this way as part of a secret fitness programme to ensure parents get their daily workout while the kids enjoy the ride. 💪😅

We hope this new addition brings plenty of fun, laughter, and inclusive play opportunities for all the children in our community.

We are endeavouring to set a date for an Official Opening & co-ordinate our Guests ; but No.1 has to be our Galway Rose ; Jodie Kenny - who interacts with children of all abilities everyday in her School Teacher role.

We also have to pay tribute to those volunteers who got us from a green site to todays completed project ; Chairman ; Thomas Welby, who secured the €50k funding - Secretary ; Gerry Gibbons, Project Manager & many other roles besides - John Murray, 'Jack of All Trades', who never fails to deliver on his promise to help out - Peter Tierney ( Portacarron ) & Liam McQuinn ( Plant Hire ) for literally the digout, of the site.
Thanks also to Directors & Park Friends for the Interest Free Loans to assist with Grant Drawdown.

We will also be organising a fundraising Coffee Morning & iDonate page, early July, to assist us with ongoing Kids Playground maintenance & external Adult Fitness Equipment maintenance.
We will be participating in the Tesco Blue Token Fund - so give us the nod when shopping there.

🌳🎡 **Corribdale Park Looking Vibrant & Full of Life!** 🎡🌳

It’s fantastic to see Our Park buzzing with activity as McCormack's Funfair brings colour, excitement, and family fun to the area. From thrilling rides to happy smiles, there’s something for everyone to enjoy while making the most of our wonderful community space.

At the same time, ongoing green area maintenance by Colie Delapp & Stephen Walsh is helping us to keep the park looking its very best. Regular grass cutting, upkeep of pathways, and care for the surrounding landscape ensure that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

A big thank you to everyone involved in maintaining and enhancing this valued local amenity. Special word of Thanks to the Parkrun Team; Nigel, Mike & Mairead who have helped cut back the overgrowth along the Trails & Litterpick each week. Whether you're visiting the funfair, taking a walk, or simply enjoying the open green space ; Corribdale Park remains a great place to spend time outdoors.

Thanks also to Tidy Towns Team ; John, Mimi & Aoibheann who carried out important maintenace of our Sensory Garden.

Our New Inclusive Train passed its Safety Inspection during the week & we await the repair of the approaching tarmac pathway to finalise the Project - with a bit of luck we will have an Official Opening next weekend !

McCormack's Funfair is on the way !
Their Equipment has begun to appear in the Park & they will be setting up over the coming days. They plan to open for business by Friday 12th June from 6pm til late each evening, over a 10 day stay.
We hope that the good weather will return too !

𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑼𝒑𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆 :-
Wetpour Contractors laid the certified protective play surface yesterday and Pete & Ken Kyne will be on site tomorrow to re-lay a section of pathway tarmac surface, which had subsided in past year and was retaining ponds of surface water.
We expect the Independent Engineers Safety Review to be carried out on Monday and all going well the Equipment Installation will Pass its Safety Checks & we hope to have an Official Opening thereafter within a week.
The Project has taken a little longer than anticipated, but it is the first Inclusive Train to appear in a County Galway Playground - a learning curve for all involved.

The CE lads have now completed the repainting of walls & seating in kids playground - we are most thankful for their ongoing Community Spirit - looks great lads, thank you all.
We have a few more minor repairs & rust treatment to carry out to various pieces of play equipment, to maintain our Safety Standards.
While we anticipate that our new Inclusive Train will open to to all visitors before end of May.
We have had unforeseen delays due to the fact that this piece of Inclusive Train Equipment is the first to be Commissioned in County Galway and the Installers are more cautious than usual, seeking more Independent Engineer Assessments at each stage of installation, to ensure that it will operate to the highest Safety Standards - and ensure once it opens, it stays open.

Many Thanks to the lads on our CE Scheme who are continuing to support us with much needed playground maintenance. They have just completed repainting of Kids Playground Wall - so if you are visiting today, please obey the 'Wet Paint' signs - it should be dry within 3 hours or so.
