Despite some unexpected challenges the Tennis Club committee continues to work hard to deliver this important new facility.

On behalf of the committee we thank the Oughterard community in particular the park users for their continued support,patience and understanding during the construction phase.

May we wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.

As we work to bring a tennis club to Oughterard, an update to our community. The level of excavation required to bring the court levels down to the trails level has resulted in a retaining wall needing to be built. This has resulted in another unfortunate delay with additional expense. The order for this retaining wall has now been placed with expected completion date end of January 2026.

In addition to the retaining wall we also uncovered a council main storm drain running directly under the courts,with the help of councillor Tom Welby and Galway County Council, we exposed part of this pipe to find it completely blocked. This blocked pipe has the potential to flood the courts during heavy rainfall. We cannot allow this to happen.
The council is working to clear this pipe.

Until such time as this work is completed we cannot continue with the ground works.

At this stage given the reduced daylight hours, winter weather,and the retaining wall/storm drain issues a revised completion date now looks likely to be end of April 2026.

The directors continue to work hard to deliver this project for the community and visitors alike.

A total of 36 community groups across Connemara will share a slice of €120,000 through the 2025 Galway Wind Park Community Fund – as part of their commitment to supporting local communities near Ireland’s largest onshore wind farm.- Oughtarard Tennis Club benefited- Many thanks to those involved.

Due to the untimely death of our Chairman's sister ; Ciara Joyce, the social event planned for this evening 27th of September has been postponed.
A new date will be arranged shortly.
We are making steady progress with site development, despite the inclement weather at start of Sept. We are grateful for the patience & co-operation of all Corribdale Park, Oughterard users and our neighbours in the GAA Club.

On behalf of Corribdale Park, Oughterard Board of Directors, we extend our deepest sympathies to our Board Colleague; Richard and the extended Joyce family : mother ; Ann, sister ; Emer & brother ; Dermot on the sad passing of their beloved Ciara. Growing up in Ardvarna House, just a 'stones throw' from Corribdale, Ciara would have frequented the Park as a happy go lucky child/teen and enjoyed much outdoor fun there over the years & then returning many years later with her children to enjoy the Playground & Trails.
Her father ; Dermot was a founding member of The Oughterard Show in 1962 and it followed that the Joyce Clann were always contributors to the progression & development of the Park.
Our thoughts & prayers are with the Joyce Family at this sad time.

Funeral arrangements are available on rip.ie - Skibbereen, Cork.

Due to the very high winds OTC have decided not to erect a Stand at this year's Show.

The four directors will be at the Show Grounds from 1pm - please don't hesitate to stop one of us for a chat if you have questions about the Tennis Club & Court development

This website is still a work in progress as we commence site excavation works in Corribdale Park from 1st Sept and aim to have the 3 Courts completed by mid Oct.
