Moylagh qualified for the quarter final of the Junior A championship with a 7-point win over St. Mary’s on Friday last.
The margin of the win, coupled with the defeat for Nobber against Ballinlough, left Moylagh with a better score difference and set up a meeting with Slane on the 19th September.
Moylagh were quick out of the blocks in Cortown with early scores from Shane Gibney, Eanna Brody, Cillian Fanning and a Sean Reilly free before a St. Mary’s reply in the 10th minute.
Moylagh pushed the lead out further through a Darragh Tuite 2-pointer from play, another Sean Reilly free and well taken point from Sean Guirke.
Following two scores from St. Mary’s, Sean Reilly added a further free to leave the half time score at Moylagh 0-9, St. Mary’s 0-3.
A Darragh Tuite point cancelled out an early St. Mary’s opener. St. Mary’s then struck for a goal to close the gap. In reply, Moylagh worked the ball up the field through the duracell powered Nathan Gibney which allowed Sean Reilly to kick a free in reply to the St. Mary’s goal.
Further scores through Darragh Tuite and Sean Reilly maintained the lead at 3-4 points before a late burst of scores through a Sean Guirke 2-pointer from down town, Feargal Flynn, Shane Gibney and a final Sean Reilly free left the final score at Moylagh 0-18, St. Mary’s 1-8.
Moylagh play Slane in the quarter final in Moynalty at 1pm on the 19th September.
