Hello everyone,
It's been a while but we finally returned to the track this weekend in Mondello Park. Let's start by complementing Mondello Park and all their staff on a very well run event that was respectful and professional. To all the track Marshall's we cant thank you enough and to all the other Competitors who showed great care and respect for everyone, a massive thank you. It just shows that with good planning and willingness on peoples part these events can take place.
Now for the racing... Saturday saw Mike take to the track in the Vectra, qualifying was decent and pole position for race one with p2 for race two.... tyres were an issue as well as contact which pushed him down the field in race one with a 5th place finish.
Race two was scuppered by contact also which spun him out and he rejoined at the back of the field.... fantastic scrapping through the race resulted in 3rd place and the fastest lap.
Sunday saw Richard race for the first time in his beautifully prepared Fiesta ST... unfortunately gearbox issues arose in the first lap of qualifying which cut it short. The first race was missed as a result and following a replacement clutch to add to the gearbox issue he took his place at the back of the field for race two.... a great start and clever driving had him in the midfield 3 laps in but the the gearbox decided it didnt want to play and the day ended on a sad note after a considerable amount of work...
Massive thanks must go to our sponsors for their continued support in such troubling times and we are delighted to continue to work with AFEC, CJK, C Lee Engineering, Richard Kearney Engineering and KSN Project Management.
Our next event is 15th & 16th of August if all goes to plan, we raced this weekend behind closed doors and dont know yet what the landscape looks like going forward. We are delighted to be back and hope you all stay safe and well...
Take great care, wear the masks and look out for each other..... see you all soon.
