Our Junior Snooker Academy continues to go from strength to strength, and it’s fantastic to see the progress being made week on week.
Each session brings noticeable improvement in the young players, not just in their technique and understanding of the game, but also in their confidence around the table. The development on display has been brilliant.
The level of interest and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved is very encouraging. The focus and willingness to learn creates a really positive environment, making every session enjoyable as well as productive.
The consistency in attendance and effort is a credit to them all.
We’re delighted with how the academy is progressing and excited to see how these young players continue to develop on their snooker journey in the weeks ahead. The future is certainly bright!

Our Junior Academy continues to go from strength to strength here at NCW Snooker Club, as the kids returned for the next session of their snooker journey.

It’s been fantastic to see the progress they’re making week on week. Their confidence is growing, their cue action is improving, and most importantly, they’re really enjoying the game. The effort, focus, and enthusiasm on display has been brilliant, with plenty of signs of real talent developing across the group.

It’s great to watch them learning not just the skills of snooker, but also the discipline and sportsmanship that comes with it. We’re excited to see how they continue to improve over the coming sessions.

Congratulations to Dan Barrett on winning the West Limerick Cup recently, beating Anthony Mullins in the final.
The inaugural competiton between NCW & District Snooker Club and Rathkeale Snooker Club was a great success. Well done to all players who took part in the event.

Day 2 was another great success for the Junior Academy here at NCW and District Snooker Club, with a new group of young players taking part.

Just like the first day, the kids showed great enthusiasm and a real willingness to learn as they worked on their cue action, basic shot technique, and understanding of the table. It was brilliant to see their confidence grow as the session went on.

A big well done to all the kids who took part over the two days — the effort, concentration, and enjoyment on display has been fantastic to see.
And thanks to Cathal for his time and energy in making this possible.

We’re really looking forward to seeing their progress in the weeks ahead. 👏🎱

Today marked the launch of our Junior Snooker Academy, and what a great start it was! 🎱

It was fantastic to see some young players getting involved, enjoying themselves, and already showing signs of real talent and potential. The enthusiasm, focus, and positive energy around the tables made it a very successful first day.

A big well done to all the kids who took part — we’re excited to see their skills develop over the coming sessions.

Looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow!

We are delighted to announce the launch of our Junior Snooker Academy, welcoming young players from Newcastle West & District and surrounding areas.

Open to boys and girls aged 10 years and up, this academy is designed to introduce juniors to the game in a structured, positive and supportive environment.
Snooker is growing again — and junior players are the future of the sport. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to:
✔ Learn correct technique from the very beginning
✔ Develop focus, patience and discipline
✔ Build confidence and sportsmanship
✔ Become part of a thriving Newcastle West & District club.

To ensure quality coaching and individual attention, places are strictly limited to just 10 players for this first intake.

Well done to all the players from NCW Snooker Club who competed in the Munster Snooker Championship in Killarney over the weekend.
It wasn’t to be this time, but both teams showed great heart, produced some fantastic snooker, and battled hard right to the end. A credit to everyone involved.

Newcastlewest Snooker Club will be competing in the upcoming Munster Snooker Championship, facing teams from across the province in one of the region’s most prestigious snooker competitions.
The event takes place at The Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney on 15th, 16th and 17th January 2026. Best of luck to all players
