Match Report
Ace Sports Awards Masters Division 1
Kildare Town 35s v Newbridge Hotspurs 35s

The visitors started the game well and controlled the opening 15 mins. Even having a goal disallowed for a soft free out. Then Kildare got a foothold in the game and both teams missed good chances before Kildare scored a goal just before half time.

Hotspurs came out fighting in a very entertaining second half and after missing more chances finally got their equaliser. A free kick for a foul on Rob Fox was sent into the box by Gary Lowe to find the head of Noel Curran to score. Then with about 6 mins left Newbridge took the lead in almost a carbon copy. Lowe with the free kick and again headed in by Curran who was outstanding in the middle of the park. But that wasn't the end of the goals. As the visitors called for a foul on the keeper, Kildare then scored a bullet header from the middle of the box to make it 2-2. The full time whistle followed soon after with the teams getting a point apiece.

Match Report
KDFL Leinster Heat Pumps Senior Division
Clonmullion AFC 3 - 1 Newbridge Hotspurs

Newbridge Hotspurs travelled to Clonmullion looking to build on the momentum of the back to back victories over the last 2 weeks. It wasn’t to be on the day, but as can often happen the scoreline doesn’t tell the full story.

For the majority of the first half Hotspurs were the dominant force, sitting well within their shape limiting Clonmullion to very few chances while also creating a few. 5 minutes before half time Clonmullion broke the deadlock via a wicked deflection, and promptly followed up with a second on the stroke of half time with a header from a corner.

An end to end second half followed, but just after the hour mark Clonmullion scored there 3rd with a free header at the back post to put the game to bed. Eoin McGrath scored a consolation goal in the final minutes but it was unfortunately a case of too little too late.

A much tighter game than the scoreline suggests, but we now turn our attention to next weekend and the next 3 points.

Match Report
Ace Sports Awards Masters Division 1
Kilcock Celtic 35s 1 - 2 Newbridge Hotspurs 35s

The game started pretty even with both sides only really creating an odd half chance. Then on 11 mins the ball was played forward by Wayne Barrett was flicked in by the head of Rob Fox. Then things changed in the space of 5 mins when 2 yellow cards saw Barrett get his marching orders on 28 mins. Then Kilcock equalised almost on the stroke of half time with a well worked goal. HT 1-1

Into the second half and again both teams were guilty of wasting some good chances until the 70th min. A throw in from Nigel Purcell to the feet of Anthony Clifford, who laid it back to Noel Curran to slot the ball in from just inside the box. The visitors got their first win of the season 1-2.

Outstanding for Hotspurs on the day were JP McDonagh in goal, Fox up front, Purcell in midfield and MOTM Anthony (Noddy) Clifford who was involved in everything positive for Spurs and worked tirelessly the whole game.
