St Leger day at Doncaster and the name sake race is at 15.35, in what is set up to be a really exciting renewal. With high profile last minute jockey changes, a potential fairytale and some other fantastic horses in the race it's hard to know where to start with this one.
We all love a fairytale though and Pyledrivers story is a perfect example. A foal that was bought to go jumping but remained unsold at Tatterstalls in 2017 and was bought back by his breeders for 10,000gns. He then went to William Muirs yard being one of only 20 odd horses. Pyledriver was sent off at 50/1 in his first race and won comfortably and thats where his wonderful rise to a St Leger entry began. Pyledriver is currently at 4/1 in the market.
Another exciting opportunity presented itself when Ryan Moore chose to stay in Ireland for the Irish Champions weekend, meaning that top jockey, Frankie Dettori teams up with the master trainer Aidan O'Brien on the Irish Derby winning Santiago at 7/2.
One of the other market leaders is the smart looking Hukum for the powerful owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum who is the mount of Jim Crowley. The lightly raced Sea The Starts c**t has won 3 out of his 4 starts so far, including the King George at Royal Ascot and is currently priced best priced at 7/2.
Galileo Chrome has been well backed this week and has had alot of eyes on him as he was meant to be ridden by Shane Crosse, who tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday and is now the mount of Tom Marquand. The Joseph O'Brien trained c**t is currently 4/1 in the market.
There are 7 other runners in the race with the next best priced horse in the market being the Mark Johnston trained Subjectivist at 14/1.
A cracking renewal of the oldest classic in flat racing, who does everybody fancy to win the famous race?
