The GHRC Junior Players.
Over the course of March, April & May this year we embarked on what is probably the most critical element to the success of any club; the development of our Junior Players.
After 8 weeks of coaching, the development of these young players was immense, to the point where we were just getting in their way on the court!
We ended this first phase of introduction and training with a night of "practice" matches, but it didn't take much to get the competitive spirit coming out in all these future stars, with some great skill on show.
Calling the match referee out on any mistakes made is obviously something that doesn't need teaching either apparently!
We would like to thank all our Junior players and their parents for making the effort and we will be looking to the next stage of the development of these young players soon.
Our thanks also to the coaches who gave their time to driving this new direction and making it such a great success:
Paddy Whelan
Sharon Fenlon
Tom Quigley

Friends of the GHRC – Update
By way of an update for everyone involved in the "Friends of the GHRC" fundraising event that took place from September to December last year: due to concurrent events like Christmas and other charity fundraisers, we decided to postpone the collection of pledges until after Christmas. Since then, we have collected most of the pledged funds, and we will close the period for payment of the remaining pledges within the next two weeks, July 7th.
If this presents an issue for anyone in meeting that date, please contact a member of the committee and we will assist in any way we can.

In the following four weeks after that date, we will contact each contributor to confirm names and spellings, among other details, which are to be included in a permanent wall installation at the club. We aim to have this installed prior to the end of the current membership year (end Sept).
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone for their generous contributions to the "Friends of the GHRC" initiative and eagerly anticipate its unveiling later this year. Details of this will be announced once finalized.
Thank you all again for your continued support.

23/24 Singles Competition
Our final set of finals represents what we believe to be one of our biggest achievements of the 23/24 season and that is the growth of the Women's Game in the club, with a full doubling of the women's membership to 35 this year alone.
This allowed us to run 2 dedicated Women's divisions in our singles competition. We would like to thank all the players, both new and experienced for getting involved and making the competition the success it was.

The finalists for the 23/24 Women's Singles Division 1 & 2 were:
Div 1: Diane Somers (W) v's Pamela Quigley (R'up)
Div 2: Stephanie Foxe (W) v's Sandra Kearns (R'up)

Congratulations to all our Singles finalists this year, across all 10 Divisions.

23/24 Singles Competition
Our second set of finals were Divisions 5, 6, 7 & 8. These divisions involved a substantial number of players who were only new to the club, and in a lot of cases, new to Racquetball this year also. The competitiveness was no less diminished with all bar one of the finals needing a deciding 5th match to establish a winner.

The finalists for these divisions were:
Div 5: John Stafford (W) v's Adrian Dillon (R'up)
Div 6: Jamie Cooney (W) v's Laura Molloy (R'up)
Div 7: Brian Murphy (W) v's Larry Cahill (R'up)
Div 8: Sean O'Connor (W) v's Danny Hayes (R'up)

23/24 Club Singles Competition
This years singles competition was without doubt the largest competition we have held with a total of 82 participants taking part.
So much so that we required a change to the scoring and structure of the league to ensure there was sufficient time to get all the games played, while still retaining time and capacity for any members not taking part, and the committee would like to thank all the players for ensuring the games were played in a way that allowed us to stick to the allotted time frame for the competition.
We would like to congratulate all the finalists who too part across the 10 Divisions:

The finalists of Divisions 1, 2, 3 & 4 were as follows:

Div 1: Philip Molloy (W) v's Jason Tennant (R'up)
Div 2: Adrian Redmond (W) v's Shane Cullen (R'up)
Div 3: Fionn Slattery (W) v's James Redmond (R'up)
Div 4: Fintan Ryan (W) v's Jack Foley (R'up)
