As the curtains closed on a fantastic season for Nenagh BC, we have some good results to share.

This past weekend, the Victor Juvenile and Senior Intercounties were held at the Kingfisher Arena in Galway City. On Saturday, Adam Bourke and Nika Setikaite supported Tipperary to a long-awaited gold, with Nika winning her last mixed to give Tipp their win, 5-4, over Galway.
On Sunday, Natasha O’Brien was in action with Tipperary’s F team, getting them over the line to win silver in a very tough group of four teams. And with the Grade E team, Dan Ryan and Brian Saiju were involved in some tight matches, with Tipperary losing out to strong Dublin and Galway sides.

The Saturday before last weekend saw Dan Ryan travel to Dublin for the Graded Nationals finals, where he contested the Grade E men’s singles, narrowly losing out to D and E singles, and E doubles champ, Jason Carr of Galway.

These are some fantastic results for the club, a huge well done to all involved, we hope to our members reaching for new heights next season!

U15 Quadrangular ➡️

Last weekend Simon Setikas represented Ireland at the U15 Quadrangular event held this year in Baldoyle Badminton Centre, Dublin.
Ireland faced up against England, Scotland and Wales, and following some very tough matches, Ireland took silver just losing out to England after some very close matches.

This is a great achievement for Simon, representing Ireland once again is a fantastic experience for him and is showing great signs for the future.
Well done Simon! 👏

League Finals ➡️

On Friday, the last of our League Finals finished up in Borrisoleigh GAA Hall, with our G and E teams facing strong Roscrea sides. After a tough evening of matches, Nenagh emerged victorious in both grades!

The G team had a strong 5-0 victory over Roscrea, and the E team went down to the wire, despite incredible pressure, Nenagh took third mixed, in three sets to win 4-3. The E team will now field a team to advance to Munster, the very best of luck to them!

Last Friday, the 10th, our H and F teams took on Larkspur and Grange respectively. After another evening of incredibly close fixtures, both matches came down to last mixed, with Nenagh losing out very closely on both occasions. Hard luck to our H and F teams, we would like to emphasise how excellent your efforts have been, to reach these finals is no easy feat!

Onwards and upwards for our E team, the very best of luck at the Munsters!

Brewster Cup Runners-Up! ➡️

Yesterday, in Causeway Community School, Kerry, the Brewster Cup was held by Munster Badminton, with 4 teams competing for the 75th Edition of the Brewster Cup. The Cup is a competition where a county can bring 1 Grade C male and female player, and a full team of up to D players. Tipperary faced off against Cork, Kerry and Limerick in a round robin format.

Following a narrow 4-5 loss to a strong Cork team, Tipperary beat another strong, Limerick team 6-3 to stay in the competition. They then beat Kerry 6-3. The final decider game was last mixed between Cork and Limerick, where in the third set, Cork won, to narrowly take the win overall. Tipperary were a close second, a fabulous achievement!

Well done to Brian and Dan for representing the county at this event, Brian played 1st men’s doubles and narrowly lost out on some of his games, winning 1 out of his 3 matches despite extremely close scorelines. Dan was on singles all day, and was given 2nd mixed doubles for the last two games, despite some more tight matches, Dan managed to win 5 out of 5 of his games. Great stuff lads!

County Juvenile Singles➡️

Yesterday Tipperary Juvenile Badminton held a County Juvenile singles tournament, with players from all ends of the county competing. After a long day of matches in Templemore, and a huge number of entries, we are delighted to announce our own Jakub took gold in the U17 division 1, and runner up in the U19 division 1. This is a great achievement and we are sure to see more from Jakub as he continues to improve, well done! 🥇🥈

This was the final juvenile tournament of the season; the club would like to say a huge thanks to Tipperary Juvenile Badminton, and all involved in organising juvenile competitions this season, bringing all our juvenile players from around the county together. Well done to all Nenagh players who competed, from both the senior club and the juvenile club it is great to see so many of our members competing and enjoying themselves.

Schools All-Irelands Round-Up ➡️

As another schools badminton season wraps up, Nenagh BC would like to say well done to Julie Ryan, competing with Borrisokane Community College’s U19 division 1 team, at the Shuttle Time Secondary Schools All-Irelands, held at Gormanstown College in Meath.
Julie and her team took on some of Ireland’s best players, and fought well, taking a great share of games off their prestigious opponents. At the end of the day, Ulster’s entry won out the competition, having said that, we are delighted with Borrisokane’s entry this year.
The team won against the odds in a close competition in Tipperary, to reach the Munsters, progressing to All-Irelands is no easy feat, especially at division 1!
Well done Julie and well done team!

U19 Intercounty All-Irelands! ➡️

On Sunday, the U19 Munster Intercounties took place in SETU Waterford, with Tipperary taking on Waterford in some closely contested matches.
Adam Bourke and Nika Setikaite were selected to represent the division 1 team, which went on to take gold for the second year running! Following a close 5-4 scoreline, Tipperary will advance to the All-Irelands in May! Well done guys and well done team!
Jack Cholattu was selected on the division two team, which also went on to win gold, again, for the second year running.

These successes are a fantastic achievement for our club members and Tipperary, with such a strong base of U19 players in the county, it’s great to see!
We wish our division 1 team all the best in their All-Ireland in May, and well done Adam, Nika and Jack for playing your part on your teams!
