As the world becomes more technologically advanced, the children and adolescents of today are spending less time participating in physical activities and more time watching television or playing computer games. This increase in a sedentary lifestyle is having a huge negative impact on the health and well-being of Children and Adolscents. Increases in the risks of Cardiovascular diseases, obesity i

ssues, as well as other mental issues such as social anxiety and depression are all influenced by lack of physical activity. Physical activity provides the opportunity to be active, have fun, feel good, be healthy and express yourself. And 'Fitter Younger' are providing the opportunities to increase participation in physical activities. Active children are happy and healthy and more likely to become active adults.

Fitter Younger had a brilliant day in Dublin today as the pupils of Scoil Chaitríona Baggot Street participated in our fundraising event for the first time. The pupils were all extremely enthusiastic, and although the course was a little tricky, they managed to complete the distance in a super time! Well done everyone!!

Fitter Younger returned to Co Cavan today as the Killinkere N.S Parents Association once again used our event as an annual fundraiser. The boys and girls didn't let the few showers dampen their spirits, and they even finished the marathon distance in a new record time for their school! Well done everyone!!

Today Fitter Younger travelled to South Dublin where Our Lady of Good Council GNS joined with Our Lady of Good Counsel BNS to participate in our fundraising event. Almost 800 kids took part today, and there were so many brilliant runners among them. This help the two schools finish the marathon distance in a brilliant time!! Well done everyone!!

Na Piarsaigh GAA Limerick provided the excellent facilities today for the event, and this helped the pupils run super fast to set a new School record! Well done everyone!!
