What did next!

Running and jumping

We do a lot of running and jumping in class. Like everything we do, there's always a good reason.

Running and jumping are difficult and high impact. They help increase mental strength. They improve coordination. They also help burn off additional energy

Jumping stimulates bone building cells which helps with

Consistency beats hard work every time!

May 2025, I felt awful. I'd been running, in training for the mini marathon, but I had no motivation to strength training or get my s**t together food wise. Then I seen the photo on the left. It was the kick I needed. There's a difference of about 10kg

I ran the mini marathon (slowly) but after it, I joined the gym again and got myself a programme. I committed to 3 days a week but I have zero interest in long workouts or absolutely killing myself in training.

But I knew food choices had to start supporting my goal. So I started calorie counting, focusing on protein and using common sense. I still wanted to have chocolate every day!!!

Staying within 2000 calories a day, I did 3 training sessions (all 35-45 mins) and focused on lifting weights (not very heavy)

My routine is boring.

I eat the same snacks, dinners etc and I do the same programme (changing every 6 weeks or so)
I don't feel the need to be constantly changing

But I go, regardless of mood.

Don't want to go to the gym? I go anyway. I can count on one hand how many times iv missed the gym since July of 2025.

So if you can make a commitment to yourself to strength train, use a little cop on with your food, be it better choices or smaller portions and do a little calorie counting with protein as a focus, you can make changes to support a healthier life

It won't be exciting, but it will be worth it ❤️

I rarely share videos from classes. Generally because of the population I work with. Be it new mothers or adults with disabilities. But these guys need to be celebrated!

So I'll be doing a series of videos for both in the upcoming weeks because these guys are absolutely smashing it. Showing up week on week!

The guys at Prosper love sled pushes and it makes sense - pushing falls into the category of heavy work. Heavy work helps regulate the nervous system!

People always ask me what we get up to at baby bootcamp! So here's some snips!

We train, we chat, we work, we see to the babies

It's exactly what it says on the tin!

And we love it!

Exercise is important, but what's equally important is the social aspect of training. It could be the coffee after, the venting, the advice, the laughs. Each persons social part is different too. People take different things from it.

Baby bootcamp is what you make it. It's what you take from it. It's a safe place, where any movement is celebrated. Where recovery and taking care of your body and mind is more important than lifting heavy or moving fast.

No one cares if you have 10 years experience or none. No one cares if you deadlift the bar or 100kgs (which is none of us!!!)

People care that you are there and that you are doing good. It's amazing how like-minded people can put you at ease. You are tired? Then there's a class full of people who understand.

Regardless of being at my class or not..... You got this mama x

Baby bootcamp 👶🏋️‍♂️

Lots of new faces here since I last posted about BBC on my grid

Iv been working with new mam's and pregnant women for about 10 years now and I love it.

So much happened with covid, losing my own studio, having twins, having a single baby, venue hopping and trying to find the right fit for baby bootcamp.

We have been lucky enough to be in some gorgeous studio and performance centres and we have also had to make do with other places. Either way we got on with it!

We are back on the lucky streak with a gorgeous new gym to work from, allowing me to bring baby bootcamp back to what it's supposed to be. Predominantly strength sessions. Slow, controlled exercises to help with recovery. To help with building. To help with confidence.

A safe space. To train, to laugh, to feed (bottle or breast, no one cares) to give out, to do anything you want while training and not having to worry about babysitters.

There's no level of fitness or strength needed. We all have to start/start back somewhere. It took me a LONG time to get back to it. It's never too late. But it CAN be too early. So message me for any details and hopefully I can help you start or continue your journey x

"I've just had a baby, when can I get back to exercise" - lots of new mothers in my DMs

The guidelines are 6wks post vaginal birth and 12wks post c section. The reality is, in a lot of cases, it's after that.

People tend to forget that their body has just been through the mill. You should NOT be starting before now. If you are starting back, your trainer should be checking these timelines and adhering to them. That's if they care about your body and recovery. And I don't mean that as an insult. I mean it as a fact.

I had three kids in quick succession. On the twins, it was a lot. I didn't push myself to get back. I was overwhelmed. I was tired and I was emotional AF.

On Seán, I felt a little better so I said I'd go back to work and exercise early. Bad move. I wasn't ready. So just know, if you aren't ready after the "guidelines" that's ok. Seán is now 17 months and this is the very FIRST MONTH I have exercises consistently. I started running inarch, when he was 11 months, in preparation for the mini marathon but my strength training had taken a bash.

The past month, iv been doing 3x strength sessions and 1-2 runs (in prep for my NEXT 10K run in a week 🤢🤢) but it took for me to get a coach and a programme done for me, for me to have the motivation.

If you need motivation, don't rely on yourself. Look for a coach who is qualified to deal with post partum exercise. Start back slow. You don't have to jump into a hyrox class or a HIIT class or boxing. In fact - don't!!!! Your pelvic floor likely won't enjoy it. Be consistent. Even if it's once a week. Be READY in yourself.

Do your research and have some love and respect for your body. Give it the gift of someone who knows how to give it some TLC!

Anyway, that's all I have for you! My grid has been a shambles since having the kids!

Be kind to yourself and don't rush into it x

VHI WOMENS MINI MARATHON

It's the final week before the mini marathon and for those who don't know, I'm running the mini marathon for who have been such a support to us since Lauren's diagnosis

We would love to get as much support for WSI as possible so I have added the link below and I'll add it to stories for an easier access

https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/laurenswsi

Running is not my strong point but I'm so aware of the privilege it is to choose my challenges, when there are so many who face challenges, day to day, that they didn't ask for. Like my girl ❤️

Every little helps an organization like WSI so click and support or share and get the awareness out there x

We have all heard the saying "comparison is the thief of joy" and it's probably something we say to others to make them feel better about something without realizing we are probably doing it in our own lives a lot more than we think.

Two examples that I'v been guilty of in the past few weeks are:

1. I went running on the Monday of the freezing weather(apparently I'm also unstable 🤣🤣) so the short back story here is that I hate running. I despise it. You know how people run&get a real sense of achievement?? Not me.
Anyway against my better judgement, I went with a "Friend" (you know who you are 🤣) I defo found the biggest struggle for me was coming to terms with how much slower I was than everyone else. I was absolutely mortified for myself even though no one else probably noticed. The people there were so nice, one girl stayed with me and made sure I paced myself. "Don't worry about anyone else's pace, do what you can stick to" and you know what? Without that girl, I don't think I would have stuck with it. I would have stopped and bowed out. I was comparing myself to absolutely everyone else even though their running journeys weren't mine!

2. I found myself looking back at all my own achievements and challenges and getting a little down about the fact that there isn't a hope in hell I'd be able to do any of that s**t now. For example, this picture, one of 10 hell and backs I done (well 9 and 1 tough mudder) climbing, running, strength and conditioning, all at a decent level then. I was comparing myself to my old self. But my life is different now. I had to give myself a talking to. I was 10 years younger, no responsibility, no kids, any amount of sleep, any amount of time!! It was different. Priorities are different.

So now I'm on a new journey to try find where the new me lies. The mammy. The wife. The older trainer, who doesn't want or need to slog through a load of crap to build my business (because you do have to do that at the start!!) and with that I'm sure I'll lose lots of followers and gain plenty new ones. I understand I'm not everyone's cup of tea but ill happily do my thing with those who want to be here ❤️❤️

January can be the absolute pits.

It's tough, you promised yourself you would start in January. Now January is here and you are LESS motivated than you were before! You don't become a different person in the new year and it's that simple.

One of the hardest things is showing up to the class/gym or whatever you have chosen to do. Booking a class and just not going, or cancelling! We have all been there. Well I certainly have.

When I decided to come back to work after the kids, I promised myself I'd limit my work to the things I enjoy the most. For example I DO NOT enjoy PT sessions. I'm a chatterbox and I love a group environment. It was non negotiable that I was going back to the guys in Prosper Meath, those guys light up my day.

My other non negotiable was baby bootcamp. There's so little out there for m**s to bring their kids. So many PTs have tried it, thinking it would be easy, but it's not. It's a certain person that can run a mam and babies class. But what I really wanted to make sure, was when people came to class, it wasn't a high pressure zone. I wanted our class to be enjoyable. Social. For the mind as much as the body. My past venues (since my own studio closed) have had seating areas for having a coffee. And for the past year and a half I have pushed that as much as the exercise.

Come to class, even if you don't feel like it. But stay after and have a coffee and a chat. We (myself and ) want to create a community. Somewhere safe. You can come- vent, laugh, cry, change a nappy, breastfeed, eat croissants with your coffee and all while feeling like it's a family.

I believe we have succeeded. I don't pack my classes. I don't do high intensity (unless you want to!) I don't put any pressure on anyone to push themselves past their limits. There's enough places that will, for those who want it.

I'm providing something different. So think about what you want. Find your place. Don't follow the crowd. Find somewhere that lowers your chances of wanting to cancel. Regardless of where you are, show up. Take the chance on yourself. You won't regret going to a session, even if you can't give it your all. ❤️
