Dionysus School of Dance was founded by Siobhan Moore in 2005. Dionysus dance classes are a fusion of Jazz, Classical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Lyrical styles of dance. The classes are fun and energetic and concentrate on dance technique, fitness, musicality, creativity, flexibility, solo work, group work, street performances, stage performances and choreography. s are taught in a fun but disciplined environment. The development of the students dance skills are nurtured and encouraged. The school strives to provide a happy environment for the student and develop the love and understanding of all things dance. Each year the students perform in an end of year show at the Mullingar Arts Centre, getting the opportunity to show off their dance skills to a live audience. Professional lights, sound, projections, stage and seating are provided, as well as colourful and creative costumes. It is an opportunity for the students to experience live theatre and gain confidence. It is also an opportunity for their families to see the skills they have been working on. All Dance Classes are held in the Mullingar Arts Centre on a weekly basis. Classes are an hour long. 'Groovy Tots' is a half an hour. All classes can be booked through the Mullingar Arts Centre 0449347777. Once a year, the senior students get an opportunity to travel to a professional show. The last few years the students have travelled to the board Gais to see musicals such as 'Wicked' and 'Big'. Tutors Siobhan Moore and Sarah Ann Meehan, take pride in being able to provide this wonderful opportunity for the students. Dionysus have also entered students and groups into competitions. They have had the opportunity to perform in the Mullingar Panto and have been invited to dance at fashion shows and at the openings of several stores. They annually take part in the St Patrick's Day parade and occasionally have visiting guest tutors. Several of the students from Dionysus School of Dance have been accepted into Dance College / University and have gone on to study dance as third level education.
