Just Kayak Canoe Club

Canoe Club meeting regularly in Moville, exploring the coastline and rivers of Inishowen and beyond.

Just Kayak Canoe Club is open to paddlers of all ages and abilities. The club is based in Inishowen using the excellent facilities of Inish Adventures (www.inishadventures.com) at Shorefront Moville, and Ned's Point, Buncrana. This gives the club members easy access to the seascapes, wildlife and sea life of the Foyle, the Swilly and Atlantic, as well as rivers throughout Ulster and beyond. The cl

ub has access to sea- and general purpose kayaks, open-boats, stand-up paddle boards, rafts, and much more. Annual membership costs €30, with a charge of €10 for each additional family member.

Fantastic few days camping on Trannish Island, and exploring Lough Erne. We had a great chance to put all our open boat training into practice, with navigation, compass work, night paddling and group leading. Plenty of socially distanced crack around the campfire, and beautiful skies, views and wildlife wherever you looked. Thanks to Shooter, Elaine Alexander, and all at Share Centre, and to Adrian and John Harkin for all the training which got us to this stage. It is great to have the confidence to do a trip like this.

41 plastic bottles collected on at the beach near Saltpans rock just outside Moville today. We filled the back of the two kayaks - we could have filled 8 more. Time for a total ban on plastic bottles.

Happy Christmas from Just Kayak Canoe Club. It was a very active year for the club, with Paddlesport Instructor qualifications achieved by 5 member, trips to Share centre, many paddles all around Inishowen, rafting trips on the Mourne, river work at Crana Fest, and a lot of Rolling!!! Thanks to Adrian, John, Tiarnan, Caoimhin, and everyone else who coached us this year. And a big shout out to Adrian for everything he does for the club. It is so much appreciated. Lookiong forward to plenty more paddles in 2020.

Coldest morning yet for paddling this winter, but members had a very useful training session preparing for Paddlesport Leader award. Circuit from Centre-Saltpans-Glenburnie-Moville Light-Centre, with plenty of scope for navigation, tidal work, towing and rolling practice at the end. Beautiful light on the hills and the Lough today. The icing on the cake was multiple sightings of a pair of porpoises between the Saltpans and Glenburnie markers. How lucky we are to have this beautiful resource on our doorsteps. Thanks to all club members and to Inish Adventures for the equipment and facilities.
