Monasterevin AFC are delighted to announce that this morning we recieved our CLUB MARK from the FAI.

The FAI Club Mark is a three tiered accreditation award based on best practice in the governance, management and administration of a football club

MAFC as a grassroots club run by dedicated volunteers, have established a clear and effective structure which is essential. Club Mark ensures our club is heading in the right direction, both on and off the pitch.

We make sure every player in the club is coached by individuals with the appropriate qualifications, fostering a sense of safety and belonging within the football family.

Our certification gives new people peace of mind, reassuring them that they are part of a club committed to doing things the right way.

Club Mark celebrates the invaluable contributions of key club members like the chairperson, secretary, treasurer, PRO, club welfare officer & committe members – the people who keep the club running smoothly.

Alot of work has gone on over the last few months by our club in regards to CLUB MARK but special mention must go to Paul Hutchinson who has done terrific work behind the scenes over the past 6 months.

KDFL Masters Division 2
Longwood AFC 1 – 4 Monasterevin AFC 35s
Monasterevin AFC 35s produced an excellent away performance on Saturday to overcome Longwood AFC 4-1 and continue their impressive form with a dominant display from start to finish.
MAFC started brightly and opened the scoring after 11 minutes. A superb pass from left back Darren Siney found in-form striker Sean O’Driscoll, who made no mistake from close range to fire the visitors ahead.
Just two minutes later, Siney turned provider again. His excellent delivery released Glenn Binions through on goal and the forward calmly turned the Longwood defence before guiding his finish into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
MAFC continued to create chances throughout the first half, with Ash McCrave going close on a number of occasions, only to be denied by Longwood goalkeeper Darren O’Rielly, who produced several fine saves to keep his side in the game.
The third goal arrived on 28 minutes when McCrave showed great vision to pick out Ali Long, who tapped home from close range to give MAFC a commanding 3-0 half-time lead.
Longwood came out with renewed determination after the break and reduced the deficit on 54 minutes through Ber McLoughlin after sustained pressure from the home side.
The response from MAFC was immediate, with both O’Driscoll and Rodrigo going close as the visitors looked to restore their three-goal cushion.
The game was finally put beyond doubt in the 58th minute with a superb team goal. The move began with goalkeeper Niall McAteer before Ali Long, operating at right back, delivered a brilliant 55-yard cross-field pass to Tommy Maloney. With one touch, Maloney fired a low ball to the penalty spot where Sean O’Driscoll met it first time and smashed an unstoppable finish into the top corner to complete a brilliant move and his second goal of the evening.
Top performers for MAFC included Darren Siney with two assists, Tommy Maloney who dominated midfield throughout, and Man of the Match Sean O’Driscoll with a clinical two-goal display.
For Longwood, goalkeeper Darren O’Rielly impressed despite the scoreline, while the ever-dangerous Philly Comerford was a constant threat going forward.

MAFC 35s 3–2 Maynooth Town 35s
Monasterevin AFC 35s secured a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Maynooth Town in an entertaining encounter, claiming three valuable points.
MAFC made the perfect start, taking the lead after just 2 minutes. A pinpoint cross from Sean O’Driscoll found Glenn Binions, who powered a header home to put the hosts 1–0 up. MAFC continued to press, creating further chances, with Owen Cox coming closest to doubling the advantage.
However, against the run of play, Maynooth drew level on 30 minutes when an unfortunate own goal from Dave Kirwan made it 1–1 at the break.
The second half saw MAFC regain control. On 37 minutes, O’Driscoll restored the lead, finishing from close range after excellent work and a cross from Binions. The home side pushed for a third and nearly got it when Tommy Maloney, played through brilliantly by a clever flick from Binions, saw his effort go narrowly wide.
MAFC did extend their lead soon after. Tommy Maloney broke the offside trap following a stumble from the Maynooth centre-back and delivered a perfect cross for O’Driscoll, who calmly finished to make it 3–1.
Maynooth responded in the 67th minute, with Barry Maloney scrambling the ball home to reduce the deficit to 3–2. Despite late pressure, MAFC held firm and saw out the game comfortably.
Standout performers for MAFC included:
Glenn Binions (goal & assist)
Sean O’Driscoll (2 goals & assist)
James McMahon
Captain Ronan Stafford
A strong team performance and a well-deserved win for MAFC.
