🥋CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF TAEKWON-DO IN MITCHELSTOWN !

Emotions still in overdrive ! ❤️

We’re going to take awhile to recover from the gamut of the emotions, the tears and the smiles we experienced at last night’s celebratory class .
It might have been standing room only , but last night our small Do-Jang proved more than a place for Taekwon-Do training.

It’s been a place where we have sweated, where we had loads of craic, where we learned , struggled and even argued, but most importantly a place where we’ve all grown together.

Thanks to each and every student and every parent for your support, your trust and your loyalty these past ten years, it’s been an amazing journey for us to have shared our journey and experiences with you all.

While it appears that one chapter of our lives is coming to a close, we are very confident of a bright and secure future in the coming years ahead.

DECEMBER GRADING 2024 CONGRATULATIONS!!!

We are delighted to announce that Thomas Wakulinski passed his black belt grading this afternoon at the ITA South grading which took place in Passage West today!👊👊👊👏👏👏🥋 He has been training with us many years, always giving his 100%, entered numerous tournaments at all levels, regularly bringing back medals to the club. He has overcome disappointment with great sportsmanship as well as enjoyed much success! ...What a great example this young man is to us all! Congratulations Thomas!!!👊👏🥋

CONGRATULATIONS !!!

We are delighted to announce that Irina Todorovic has been invited to attend fight and pattern assessments for Irish National Team Selection for the forthcoming European Taekwon -Do Championships which will be held in Bosnia in April. 2025.

Hardly any major tournament has gone by without Irina taking a gold or silver medal in all three Taekwon-Do disciplines. All her hard work paid off this November again, as she's pictured here with her Dad Goran, proudly wearing the gold and silver, won at her first Black Belt National Championship.

Rarely ever missing a training session, she has always shown a rare determination and been 100 % committed to her training from the minute she stepped into the Do-Jang as a young girl seven years ago. We all wish her every success in this next phase of what has been an amazing journey so far.

A DAY OF TAEKWON-DO TECHNIQUES !

Just got home after our day long training session at the Irish Taekwon-Do Association’s technical seminar held in St. Joseph’s Hall , Bishopswater, Wexford.
We’re pictured here enjoying what turned out to be an excellent catch up on all aspects of basic fundamentals as well as refining our patterns and sparring.

PRELIMINARY SUCCESS FOR THOMAS !

Congratulations to Thomas Wakulinski seen here on the right, in action during his preliminary Black Belt Grading at the North Monastery School in Cork.
Thanks to his fellow Mitchelstown student, Jayden Kiely for helping in partnering him with his self defence and set sparring.
Thomas will now go forward for his final test at the National Winter Black Belt Grading in Passage West in four weeks time. We all wish him well on his final leg of his Black Belt journey . Taekwon ✊

NATIONALS DAY 2:

Today,'s performance thrills continued in the same vein, as yesterday and did not disappoint with our youngest competitors , many of them who were competing for the first time, they certainly enjoyed the experience.

Extremely proud of you all, a privilege to see their progress at what was the biggest Taekwon-Do National Competition in Ireland to date.

Apart from yesterday's winner 's today there were a number of medals won in the junior respective categories;

Conor Aldridge Noonan ( bronze in sparring) Rían O'Connor (silver in patterns, bronze in sparring), Lauren O'Connor (silver in patterns), Aoife Cooney (silver sparring), Jack Gallahue (Gold sparring)... both Aoife and Jack had to battle 5 rounds to get where they got to, seventeen in each category ...
We'd like to thank all our cadet coaches, who looked after our juniors, the sense of camaraderie created by these youngsters, amongst all the club members is just fantastic!

Hugs and huge thanks to all the volunteers who officiated and umpired throughout the day. With the record number of competitors, it was great the ITA put on such a professionally run operation, that even today showing a surplus of officials.
As always thanks to all you parents who support our work and made this campaign possible not to mention the journey up to UL and the waiting for this to close this evening.
It was a massive weekend of Taekwon-Do for us all, we’re wreaked right now, no doubt we’ll all get a big sleep tonight!

NATIONALS DAY ONE.

Our apologies for such a late text but just home after long hard day one in Limerick at the National Championships.

Beginning at 10am pattern and special technique were held in the early part of the day. We had three students taking medals at patterns.

Laura Jones taking a bronze medal in Veteran Ladies blue/red belt , Irina Todorovic winning a gold in her very first junior girls Black Belt Patterns and Goran Todorovic winning a bronze medal in his first Senior Mens ( 3rd degree and above) Pattern competition.

As the day progressed it was after 6pm when most of our other athletes got out on the mats. We had six blue belts in action some getting through to their second round so we experienced more than our share of disappointment and while it just wasn’t our day, bar a few takeaway positives , we were up against it, being mixed in with the red belt division.

We had two students at red belt and here we saw Thomas Wakulinski emerge with a bronze medal, and at the risk of being biased, he certainly deserved a lot more credit.
We had four students competing at Black Belt level and it was Irina Todorovic again on form in her first Black Belt outing taking none other than a silver medal in Junior Black Belt Girls Sparring.

They were obviously hard lessons learned from this experience and we will analyse today’s results in the coming weeks.
We would sincerely like to thank Darragh Jones , and all the younger coaches who volunteered for coaching duties today.

We also take this opportunity to thank all the parents for the messages of support we’ve had from you throughout our recent illness and who have supported this campaign these past two months.
Whatever our results, you were all exceptionally well mannered and it’s a privilege to coach you guys.

Tomorrow will be interesting to see how our junior students get on. Wishing everyone a safe journey to Limerick tomorrow.
