Well done to Steve Lacey, Dick Cahill and Vinny O’ Donnell who were runners up in the DCS trips competition in Cork yesterday. In a tightly contested game, the Glounthane team narrowly defeated Mitchelstown by a measure in the final end.

Bowls Club Enjoys Memorable Trip to Westport

Nine members of Mitchelstown bowls club recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to the beautiful Mayo town of Westport, combining competitive sport with a well-earned relaxing break.

The group travelled west for a week filled with enjoyable bowls matches, friendly rivalry, and plenty of laughter. Competition was keen throughout the trip, with members taking part in a series of well-contested games that showcased both skill and sportsmanship.
A special congratulations goes to club member Eleanor McEvoy, who performed exceptionally well during the week and reached the final of the trips competition — a wonderful achievement at such a competitive event. Her success was warmly celebrated by her fellow club members, who were proud to see her represent the club so strongly.

Beyond the green mat, the trip offered a chance to unwind and enjoy all that Westport has to offer, with members making the most of the town’s welcoming atmosphere and scenic surroundings.

The week concluded in style with a gala dinner on Thursday evening. Members donned their finery for the occasion, enjoying a delicious meal and reflecting on a week filled with sport, camaraderie, and great memories.

All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable trip, and one that will surely be talked about in the club for months to come.

JFMBB Grows, Fundraises, and Prepares for St Patrick’s Day

The James Fitzgerald Memorial brass band are delighted to welcome several new musicians who are currently undergoing tuition in preparation for joining the band very soon. Their enthusiasm and developing talent will be a great asset to the continued success of the band in our town. We’re confident they’ll thoroughly enjoy taking part in our musical activities and contributing to our community’s rich musical life.
As part of our ongoing fundraising, there will be a church gate collection in the Mitchelstown Parish this weekend. We would be very grateful for your support.
The band is also currently welcoming new members, as well as those who may be interested in returning. If you’d like to get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Our next performance will be on St Patrick’s Day at the parade — it promises to be a great day for all.
