Day two of the Mayo boxing championships proved to be much better for the club with great wins by Niall Canavan against Benjamin Garvin in a close but skilled bout between two lads who knew eachother well but this time it was Niall who got his hand raised that was followed by good wins from Erica Carey and Patrick Moyles who also became champions of Mayo this weekend and great performances from Annie Cawley and Alex Gallagher in tough hard contests but it was great experience nonetheless.
Well done to all the coaches who helped out 🥊🥊🥊

It was a day of mixed fortunes at the Mayo championships in Ballina today with notable wins from Niall Canavan and a very dominant display from Fiacra Gill to become Mayo champion but also some losses that were very hard to swallow, Cillian Gallagher put on a great display but just fell a little short while Darragh McLaughlin was unlucky to say the least in his first contest this year but a lot to build on all the same. Leo Gills decision was shocking to say the least in a contest that he controlled from the start and gave a fantastic display of boxing only to be denied by what can only be described as terrible judging, chin up Leo and on to the Connachts. We as coaches were very proud of our boxers today. 🥊🥊

A tough day in the office for our boxers in the Mayo school boy championships in Castlebar with no wins from 3 contests first we had Caragh Fergus who boxed a very good girl from Oughterard but has gained great experience then came Patrick Moyles who was narrowly beaten on a split decision and then came Niall Canavan who was also narrowly beaten by a very good boxer but Niall was absolutely brilliant and will take the experience with him going forward, well done to Kenny Canavan and Keith Gallagher for taking care of the boxers. Onwards and upwards guys.

A great night's boxing in Glenamoy last night with Carragh Fergus making her debut in the ring and putting on a fantastic display of boxing followed by Brandon McHale who faced the might of Alan McTigue and came out the loser in a close competitive contest and then came Andrew Montgomery who faced the more experienced Geesala boxer Rhys Brett but he fought like a man possessed narrowly losing out but he can be very proud of his efforts, well done guys onward and upward 🥊🥊🥊💪
