Three of our boxers took part in the West of Ireland Novice Box Cup in Conamara, great experience for Adam Dyar, Rory Nugent and Davis Melnacis, this is their first year of competion for the lads and all performed really well. Disappointment for Reinis Paluhs whose opponent from Cork failed to enter the ring for the last bout of the day.

We would like to acknowledge the generous donation to the club from Maurice Manning, Maurice is a Loughrea native and lived on Barrack Street. He has spent most of his life in the USA and now resides in Toledo Ohio. He has never lost his connections to the town and has always been a great supporter of sport and activities for young people. As we celebrate our 70th anniversary this donation is a great help to us, many thanks Maurice.

Congratulations to Colm Randles who won the Third Level Colleges Junior Heavyweight championship today at the National Stadium Dublin. Colm had a second round stoppage win over Tobi Olanrewaju from the University of Limerick. He was representing the ATU Galway and was coached for this championship by the vastly experienced coach Pat McEvoy. Colm follows in the footsteps of fellow club member Darragh Coyle who won this title three years ago. Onwards and upwards for Colm.

Not to be for Luke Lawless in the national championships at the weekend. Boxing in the National Stadium Dublin, Luke took on the Leinster champion Cian Smyth from the Tredagh club in Louth. After an even first round the contest swung in his opponents favour in the second and third rounds. Not much in it at the end but the decision went to the Leinster champion. This is Luke's third time representing Connacht at All Ireland level. He is the club's most successful boxer since his coach Ryan Dervan was successful at this level.
