Loughrea squash held its annual Sunmer competition over the week and as usual there was some great squash played. Well done to all our winners.

Women's final:
Jenny Svetse beat Tara Reapy 3-2.

Women's Plate:
Marie Jaber beat Eva Bolanovska 3-1.

B Plate:
Eoin Kelly beat Marie Jaber 3-2.

B Cup:
Pat Clarke beat Tara Reapy 3-0.

A Plate:
Colin McGill beat Rat Regan 3-0.

A Cup:
Colin McEoin beat John Counihan 3-0.

Overall it was a superb tournament, ran brilliantly as usual by our treasurer Pat Kelly. He now takes a well deserved break for the summer until he gets our ladder underway again in October.

Many thanks to Christian Jaber and Peter Murphy for reffing duties. Never an easy job.

Also thanks to Gary and all in McNamee's for their hospitality afterwards. It's a great place to go after our tournament every year.

It was a great year in the club with junior coaching continuing, the U13 girls representing Connacht Squash, Eve and Darragh Kelly winning the junior squash and the women's coaching getting off the ground.

The ladies then represented the club in a Connacht Squash tournament in Westport with more tournaments planned for next year. They played their own tournament in Loughrea also, another great success.

The men played the Connacht A and B Leagues and acquitted themselves admirably as usual. Hopefully a win is coming soon!! We had trips to GLTC Squash Galway, Westport Squash Club and Sligo Squash Club so well travelled after the year.

Good luck to all tomorrow night in Loughrea Squash club.

Our annual summer finals are reaching their climax.

All members, juniors, seniors, ladies and girls are welcome along with non members also.

There will be a brief interlude in the British Open Squash - from SquashSite so the professionals can tune into events in Loughrea.

Hope to see you all there. We will be in McNamee's after for some food and drinks.

Annual Knockout Competitions 2026.

There will be four final games in total, and we will need the co-operation of all finalists to ensure that we run through the games with as little delay as possible.

Please be ready to go on court at your appointed time. Once on court, there will be five minutes allowed for knock-up. then it's GO.

While we have six separate competitions on the go and therefore six finals to be decided, some players have qualified for two finals and are being allowed to play one of those earlier in the week.

These contests are listecd separately below.

When all is done, we will adjourn to McNamee's where finger food will be available.

Things are heating up nicely in the summer competition with time slots impossible to come by all week!!!

The A Cup semi finals are now complete with Colin MacEoin playing Peter Murphy and Pat Kirrane playing John Counihan.

The A Plate has Colin McGill in the final waiting on the winner of Tomás Cooley and Ray Regan.

The B Cup has Pat Clarke playing Brendan Flynn with Jenny Svetsenko playing Tara Reapy.

The B Plate has Marie Jaber waiting on the winner of Eva Bolonovska and Eoin Kelly.

The women's cup has Tara against Mary Barrett with Charlotte O'Regan playing Jenny.

The Women's Plate finishes up with Marie playing either Eva Bolonovska or Katarzyna Bury.

ALL SEMI FINALS NEED TO BE PLAYED BY NEXT SUNDAY 31ST MAY.

Well done to all the winners so far and hard luck to the losers. And fair play to Pat Kelly for running multiple competitions at once.

Well done to Tara Reapy on her recent participation in the Sligo Squash Club Irish Squash Masters recently. Great to see after all the ladies training this year.

Also, That’s a wrap on our ladies' squash coaching block!

A huge thank you to all our players, and especially to our coaches Eoghan, Colin, Pat, John, Tomás and Patrick who gave up their time to support them— your effort and commitment made it a fantastic experience for all of us 🙌

It was great to pick up some tips and see everyone improving their skills and game each week 👏

We’re hoping to organise similar sessions again in the near future and we look forward to welcoming some additional players and coaches.

Ladder 5 is now open until 26th April. It will be the last one of the year before the club competition.

Thanks to all who have entered all year and played their matches. We need to get better at playing our matches too!

Well done to our U13 girls Maeve Guinnessey, Ella Lynch, Cara Raftery and Ruby Shaughnessy on representing the club and their province so well last weekend in the Squash Ireland Interprovincials.

The girls have really improved their game year on year and thanks to Eoghan Lynch for all his great coaching.

Many thanks to Audrey Fayne, Dave Noone and John Rooney for helping the girls out also with admin and coaching the last few weeks.
