Loughrea Squash is now open for membership for 2026-27. Membership will cover you as a fully insured member until the end August 2027.

We have been very active the last few years with the following:

• Court and dressing room renovation.

• Weekly ladder and league matches at A, B and C levels for men and women.

• Coaching for our adult and junior boys and girls.

• Summer championships running through March, April and May.

• Connacht representation aboys and girls in Irish Squash Interprovincial.

• Connacht junior league for our men’s A and B teams.

• Saturday trips to Sligo, Westport, Ballina and Galway to play those clubs.

• Single Adult Membership: €80
• Ladies, OAP, Student Membership: €55
• Junior (Child of Member): €20
• Junior (Child of Non-Member): €30

All members have to pay a seperate fee to Squash Ireland for insurance purposes.

SOCIAL €25: regular players in Loughrea court.

COMPETITIVE €40: for playing competitions outside Loughrea (Connacht men’s and women’s league, Squash Ireland sanctioned tournaments).

Loughrea Squash club were delighted to be selected as a Dulux Let’s Colour Project 2025, meaning Dulux have helped us out with our paint requirements for our colourful transformation for the entrance hall, gallery and the court itself.


The Dulux Let’s Colour Project is on a mission to ‘colour every corner of Ireland’ in a bid to impact as many lives as possible across Ireland and we are delighted to be announced as one of these projects!


With the amount of sports going on in the hall, the place could do with a good paint and thanks to the team in Dulux received the paint to brighten the place up and make it better looking for all our members and visitors.


See below for a selection of before pictures. The project was completed by the team in The Temperance Hall under the guidance of Francis, our caretaker. Thanks a lot lads! Brilliant work as always.

SPAR and EUROSPAR, proud partners of Team Ireland, have launched the Team Ireland Community Fund, a €60,000 initiative supporting local sports clubs across the country.

The fund is aimed at clubs that are "Hungry for Success" – groups making a real difference in their communities who could benefit from extra funding to help them go further.

A total of 30 clubs will be selected to receive €2,000 each. Clubs can put the funding towards a range of needs, including new equipment, facility upgrades, or initiatives to support future growth.

Local sports clubs can apply by completing a short entry form, outlining their club and explaining why they are Hungry for Success. Entries are open for a limited time only, with the deadline set for July 8...

This event will start the 24th of July and depending on numbers finish circa 6.30pm Saturday evening....

Loughrea squash held its annual Sunmer competition over the week and as usual there was some great squash played. Well done to all our winners.

Women's final:
Jenny Svetse beat Tara Reapy 3-2.

Women's Plate:
Marie Jaber beat Eva Bolanovska 3-1.

B Plate:
Eoin Kelly beat Marie Jaber 3-2.

B Cup:
Pat Clarke beat Tara Reapy 3-0.

A Plate:
Colin McGill beat Rat Regan 3-0.

A Cup:
Colin McEoin beat John Counihan 3-0.

Overall it was a superb tournament, ran brilliantly as usual by our treasurer Pat Kelly. He now takes a well deserved break for the summer until he gets our ladder underway again in October.

Many thanks to Christian Jaber and Peter Murphy for reffing duties. Never an easy job.

Also thanks to Gary and all in McNamee's for their hospitality afterwards. It's a great place to go after our tournament every year.

It was a great year in the club with junior coaching continuing, the U13 girls representing Connacht Squash, Eve and Darragh Kelly winning the junior squash and the women's coaching getting off the ground.

The ladies then represented the club in a Connacht Squash tournament in Westport with more tournaments planned for next year. They played their own tournament in Loughrea also, another great success.

The men played the Connacht A and B Leagues and acquitted themselves admirably as usual. Hopefully a win is coming soon!! We had trips to GLTC Squash Galway, Westport Squash Club and Sligo Squash Club so well travelled after the year.

Good luck to all tomorrow night in Loughrea Squash club.

Our annual summer finals are reaching their climax.

All members, juniors, seniors, ladies and girls are welcome along with non members also.

There will be a brief interlude in the British Open Squash - from SquashSite so the professionals can tune into events in Loughrea.

Hope to see you all there. We will be in McNamee's after for some food and drinks.

Please be ready to go on court at your appointed time. Once on court, there will be five minutes allowed for knock-up. then it's GO.

While we have six separate competitions on the go and therefore six finals to be decided, some players have qualified for two finals and are being allowed to play one of those earlier in the week.

When all is done, we will adjourn to McNamee's where finger food will be available.

Things are heating up nicely in the summer competition with time slots impossible to come by all week!!!

The A Cup semi finals are now complete with Colin MacEoin playing Peter Murphy and Pat Kirrane playing John Counihan.

The A Plate has Colin McGill in the final waiting on the winner of Tomás Cooley and Ray Regan.

The B Cup has Pat Clarke playing Brendan Flynn with Jenny Svetsenko playing Tara Reapy.

The B Plate has Marie Jaber waiting on the winner of Eva Bolonovska and Eoin Kelly.

The women's cup has Tara against Mary Barrett with Charlotte O'Regan playing Jenny.

The Women's Plate finishes up with Marie playing either Eva Bolonovska or Katarzyna Bury.

ALL SEMI FINALS NEED TO BE PLAYED BY NEXT SUNDAY 31ST MAY.

Well done to all the winners so far and hard luck to the losers. And fair play to Pat Kelly for running multiple competitions at once.
