Table officials course now open for registration :

The course, facilitated by the Commissioners and Table Officials Committee (CTOC), is open to 24 participants on a first come, first serve basis. The four-hour course will be delivered online by FIBA Table Official Mark Patton. The cost to participate in this intro course is €20.

Exciting times ahead for basketball in Longford

22nd September 2021

Dear member,

The membership of Longford Falcons Basketball Club and Longford Torpedo Basketball Club have agreed to Merge to create a new Basketball Club, based in Longford. This new Club will be known as LONGFORD PHOENIX BASKETBALL CLUB. Once the new Club is formed, Longford Torpedo Basketball Club and Longford Falcons Basketball Club will cease to exist.

A sub-committee from each Club has been working on the Merger Process since March of this year. The LonLeitRos Area Board ratified Longford Phoenix Basketball Club at its Area Board meeting 22nd September.

The final step in The Merger Process will take place on October 9th, with ratification by The National Area Boards Committee at its meeting on that date. At that point Longford Phoenix Basketball Club will be registered with the Registrar of Basketball Ireland and all Longford Falcons Basketball Club members will automatically transfer to Longford Phoenix Basketball Club. The Clubs formerly known as Longford Torpedo Basketball Club and Longford Falcons Basketball Club will no longer exist.

An Interim Committee, comprised of Committee members from both Clubs, has been formed to Manage the Club in Transition, until the next (Inaugural) AGM, which will be held before the Basketball Ireland AGM in March/April 2022.

The new Club is preparing for a, fully compliant Covid 19, return to Training and Competition in the month of October. We will let you know when more details are available.

Longford Phoenix Basketball Club will cater for the following teams:
• Special Olympics Girls and Boys
• Minis (U10) Girls and Boys
• U12 Girls and Boys
• U14 Girls and Boys
• U16 Girls and Boys
• U18 Girls and Boys
• Senior Women
• Senior Men
• Masters Teams (Men & Women) will be considered depending on demand

Longford Phoenix Basketball Club will be registered with Basketball Ireland, as will all its members, both playing and non-playing. Club teams will compete in the local LonLeitRos Area Board League, as well as other Basketball Ireland recognised Competitions.

All volunteers in the juvenile Club must be Garda Vetted by Basketball Ireland and complete Safeguarding 1 (if you do not already have it). Copies of these Certificates to be sent to the secretary at [email protected]

The Club encourages as many as possible to become involved in the Club. If you are interested in becoming involved in any of the following areas, please contact me:
