Farewell to Katelyn
The Pro Shop will bid farewell to Katelyn Farrell next weekend as she heads into her final year of her teacher education course. Katelyn has given our membership fantastic service over the past number of years and has always been welcoming to everyone who visited the club. We wish her every success in her studies. She is always welcome at the club in the future — and might even get a chance to play some golf!

Co Longford Golf Club Notes September 5th 2026

Captain ( Barney Mahon) Trip to Connemara Links
Barney Mahons time as Club Captain is rolling towards a close and his trip away to the wilds of Connemara is one of the final events of an action packed year. Approximately 40 golfers will leave Longford on Thursday morning with the first stop at Oughterard to play their Parkland Course and then onto the base in Clifden where the group will be based in the Station House Hotel. On Friday and Saturday the group will play the Connemara Links at Ballyconneely. The group will return to Longford on Sunday at some stage unlikely to be very refreshed after what should be a busy weekend. Best of luck Barney and group.

Our Friday evening 9 hole scramble continues on Friday next .Experienced golfers and newcomers are welcome to come along as it’s aimed at all golfers in the club and as a means of golfers meeting and playing in a social setting . We hope to see a good crowd turning up for the first week. We will be ready to let groups out from 5pm.Thanks to our members who volunteer to help out on a weekly basis.

Hanley Matchplay Final 2026.

The Hanley Matchplay Final took place on Wednesday last and it was nip and tuck throughout but in the end Thomas Brennan prevailed over Michael O Brien 3&2. The conditions were tough but both members gave it their all in what was a very sporting encounter. Thanks again to the Hanley family for continued sponsorship.

Boyers Cup Final:
Mary Keegan and Mellory Tighe played the final on Tuesday. Well done to both ladies for reaching the final. Congratulations to Mary who came out as winner on the day!
