Our A team were the visitors to The Boro Club tonight in their first ever home game under lights and put in a brilliant battling display.
We found ourselves 1-0 down after 10 minutes and it was backs to the wall for long stretches in the first half but the lads put their bodies on the line and went in at the break 1-0 down.
We began the second half very well and began to exert pressure on the Boro rearguard and got our reward when we drew level as Cian Power fired home from the penalty spot. At this point the tails were up and we had Boro under severe pressure but the game turned on the hour mark as we were reduced to 10 men as Craig Collopy-Duggan picked up his second yellow and was dismissed. From here we battled gamely absorbing pressure but even then with 15 minutes to go we should have took the lead but a golden opportunity went astray. Boro broke our resistance with 10 minutes to go. Even from here we went again and pushed for the equaliser but in injury time Boro tacked on a third to take the game away from us.
This was a super effort by every single player. Huge thanks to the B team players who gave us a dig out tonight. We again had 5 players aged 19 and under on the pitch tonight. Its obviously been a very difficult start to the season for the lads but we are about to get a few players back from injury and have a week off next week which will be huge to get them players back and give the lads who have played 5 times in 16 days time to recover the bodies. The tide will turn, no doubt🔴⚪️🔴
