🧠Combo to increase intensity of workouts✨
In my previous posts I have chatted about how to increase intensity at home by using bits of equipment that you have around the house and also how to play with the tempo of exercises.
Today i'm going to chat about how you can use all these together. Combining the two together lets you increase the intensity even more. Lets say for example you start off using your bag for squatting, at a normal tempo, eventually you hit a plateau of progression here. Whether it be no more weights to be added (too swole bro 💪🏻) or you are finding it 2ez. In this case i would start to play with the tempo of your squat. Keep the resistance there (in whatever form you have) and then change your timings. If you are currently training in the generic pace, either slow the whole exercise down, add in a pause or slow one part down. Another way to combo progressions is if you have resistance bands. .ie have amazing ones and code “aishling” gets you dollah bills off 🤑Add these into your exercises. Combo your bands with weights and you are sure to feel an extra burn here!! 🔥🥵
Another way to increase intensity is to add height to things. (incline or declines depending). An example being add a step or height to your lunges to increase your range of motion. Adding the step in means that you will lunge lower into the lunge. (similar but not the exact same as a bulgarian split squat). Other exercises this works for is deadlifts, tricep dips (the higher the lower you can go)🪜
If lockdowns have taught us anything its that there is a way to progress everything. Use tempos, random bits of equipment, holds, reistance bands, inclines and declines.
Hope this has helped to shed some light on ways to add even more intensity! Let me know if you have any questions at all! Or if you would like to see some examples 💡🤷🏻♀️
Hope everyone’s gets active this weekend and stays safe 🤩
