A quick summer update on this project. Lifford to Strabane was previously completed.
Following hot on its heels is the Derry-M**f route. The M**f section as most of you will know is almost 100% complete. The section linking Derry to M**f at Coney Road will shortly go to tender, and the project is confident that work will commence before summer ends. All things being equal, this will be operational by 2023. The bridge on the Pennyburn is subject to a separate planning application, and DCSDC is confident of submitting this for planning later this year.
For Derry to Buncrana, planning permission has already been secured for the Derry section (to the border at Bridgend). From Bridgend to Buncrana, the preferred route corridor is finalised. It is Donegal CoCo's intention to submit this section for planning approval - to An Bord Pleanála - later in 2023.
Supplementing this projects, Donegal County Council plans to link Quigley's Point to M**f and Castlefin to Lifford; in the pipeline too is a link from Buncrana to Carndonagh.
The enclosed map shows the preferred route corridor for the overall Derry-Buncrana greenway.
