🔥 TOP 16 QUALIFYING UPDATE – KING OF THE CONE 2026 🔥
Following discussions with our Head Judge, Paul McCullagh, a decision has been made to change the way the Top 16 will be selected this year.
In previous years, the Top 16 was chosen based on Saturday’s action alone.
This year, qualifying will take place across BOTH Friday and Saturday.
This gives the judging team more time to watch drivers, assess consistency, commitment, skill and, just as importantly, who can truly entertain the crowd.
✅ Qualifying starts Friday
✅ Continues Saturday
✅ More track time
✅ More opportunities to get noticed
One thing we would really like to see this year is new drivers coming through the ranks.
Let’s be honest, many of the same names appear in the Top 16 year after year, and that’s because they’re the drivers who consistently stand out from the crowd. They’ve earned their place through commitment, skill and putting on a show.
But King of the Cone has always been about giving people an opportunity.
We know there are plenty of talented drivers out there who maybe haven’t had their chance yet and we’d love to see some new faces step forward and show us what they can do.
The extra qualifying time on Friday and Saturday gives everyone a better opportunity to get noticed.
If you’ve ever thought you have what it takes to compete with the best, now is the time to prove it.
Show the judges.
Show the crowd.
Show the established names that there’s a new generation coming through.
The future stars of King of the Cone have to come from somewhere and we’d love to see a few new names force their way into the conversation this year.
At King of the Cone, it’s not always about the biggest smoke show or the loudest limiter bounce.
The drivers who get the crowd reaching for their phones, the drivers who keep people watching and the drivers who leave people talking afterwards are the ones that make an impression.
This year, drivers will also be competing for the Dylan Commins Memorial Cup for Entertainer of the Weekend.
In many ways, this trophy is almost as important as the King of the Cone trophy itself.
Anyone who knew Dylan knows exactly why.
Every year at King of the Cone, Dylan was one of the most filmed and photographed drivers on track. Wherever he went, people watched. He had a style all of his own, a personality to match and an ability to put a smile on people’s faces.
He wasn’t just a driver.
He was an entertainer.
This cup has been introduced to recognise the competitor who best represents those qualities. Someone who puts on a show, engages the crowd and reminds us what King of the Cone is all about.
Dylan will always be remembered as a huge part of King of the Cone and this trophy will ensure his name remains part of the event for years to come.
So if you’re serious about making the Top 16, don’t wait until Saturday afternoon to arrive.
Get there early.
Get on track.
Get noticed.
And most importantly…
Put on a show. 🔥🏆
