U12 Girls

Illistrin 0 - 0 Kildrum

Illistrin and Kildrum played out an entertaining draw in fine conditions at Corry Park.

Kildrum started the brighter moving the ball nicely trying to create chances early. The first one arrived when Hannah Lynchs shot was saved and held onto by Enya Mulkearns in the Illistrin goal. Illistrin grew into the game as the half wore on and Saoirse Boyce broke through but Kildrum keeper Jessica McCrossan- Gallagher was quick to smother.

In the 2nd half the game was much the same but with Illistrin starting well finding their passing rythm and trying to get that goal. Eve McElwaine fired a couple of efforts over the top of the bar before McCrossan Gallagher denied Ava Rice. Kildrum were always dangerous with Mulkearns in the Illistrin goal having to be on her toes to smother a couple of times before Lynch fired wide late on. A fair result on the night with 2 evenly matched teams

We wish Kildrum well for the remainder of the season and thanks to Paddy McCauley who had a great game in the middle.

🟡⚫🟡⚫Illistrin U12 Prem side travelled to Leckview tonight to play Letterkenny Rovers in their third league outing.

Tomasz Collier latched on to a Sam Bogan pass early in the game to give Illistrin the lead but Rovers responded through Charlie Lynch.

Chances fell to both sides in the second half but in the end it remained 1-1 with both teams taking a share of the spoils.

Thanks to the Letterkenny Rovers boys for a very sporting game and to Marty Mc Garrigle who officiated the game very well.

The Illistrin squad return to action this Saturday when they host Bonagee in Corry Park at 10.30am.

U12 Girls

Illistrin 1 - 1 Mulroy

Illistrin welcomed Mulroy to Corry Park in what was a great night for football.

The 2 teams where even in the 1st half with both teams looking dangerous but both defences well on top with few chances created.

The game began to open up in the 2nd half and Mulroy took the lead when a corner was turned into the goal by an Illistrin defender. With 10 minutes to go Eve McElwaine brought Illistrin level after a nice team move and Illistrin had the last chance to win but McElwaine's shot drifted wide. An evenly matched and competitive game for both teams.

We wish Mulroy well for the rest of the season and thanks to Eunan Brolly was reffing the contest

U12 Division 3 Match Report
Strand Rovers 4-2 Illistrin All-Stars

Our U12 Division 3 side travelled to a sun-kissed Maghery yesterday morning to take on Strand Rovers on a pristine playing surface, and both teams served up an entertaining game of football.

The home side started brightly and took a two-goal lead into the break, with their lively forward line causing problems in the opening half.

Playing against the wind in the second half, Illistrin came out firing. Dara Wilkinson reduced the deficit with a trademark rocket into the corner of the net to make it 2-1. Strand Rovers responded to go 3-1 ahead, but Illistrin kept battling.

Flynn and Pearse were outstanding in defence throughout, while Connaire put in another solid performance at full-back and Kristian Allison also impressed. Illistrin forced a corner late on, and when the ball broke to captain for the day Pearse McLaughlin on the edge of the box, he fired a first-time rocket into the bottom corner to make it 3-2 and set up a tense finish.

The boys pushed hard for an equaliser, but Strand Rovers struck on the counter-attack to make it 4-2.

Corey worked tirelessly on the wing as usual, Credit also goes to all the substitutes, with AJ making a particularly strong impact when introduced.

A great game and a valuable workout for the boys. Thanks to Shane and everyone at Strand Rovers for their hospitality and for hosting the match. Thanks also to the referee, and to all the parents and supporters who made the journey.

Well done to all the players on their effort and attitude throughout.

U14 Division 2 (Boys) league

A comprehensive victory tonight at Corry Park for the u14 Rovers team as they took on Glen Rovers in round two of the league fixtures. Kia Smyth opened the scoring with a well taken strike to the bottom corner to ensure the illistrin boys pushed on and took all 3 points. Good performances all round but standout efforts from Oisin Meehan and Aidan Doohan.

Thanks to Glen Rovers for a sporting match and Sean O Donnell for reffing.
