While the site may seem quiet currently, behind the scenes it’s a hive of activity. The vision is clear, the funding path is taking shape, and the next critical step is creating detailed, build-ready plans.
Following a public tender, McAdam were appointed lead consultants for the design project of The SRC.
McAdam are currently working on the detailed design drawings for the project.
With over £170 million worth of leisure projects delivered in the last decade, McAdam’s experience spans Sport & Leisure, Education, Community & Tourism,
and more. Their track record in enhancing communities, improving health through leisure, and creating high-quality shared spaces makes them the perfect partner for the SRC.

Official Launch of the Shannonside Peace Arena!

This week, we marked a historic milestone with the official launch of the Shannonside Peace Arena at Carrick Business Campus. This state-of-the-art indoor sports and recreational facility will be a game-changer for the entire Shannonside region, providing much-needed space for clubs, athletes, and the wider community to train, compete, and connect.

The Shannonside Peace Arena is a project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Leitrim County Council, as the Lead Partner, in partnership with the Shannonside Recreation Campus (SRC) committee, has secured €15.3 million in funding to bring this transformative facility to life.

This is a project for everyone—ensuring that people of all ages, abilities, and sporting interests have a world-class facility right here at home.

A huge thank you to all our funders, supporters, and community partners who have helped make this possible and to all of you who joined us on the day as we launched this game changing project. Stay tuned for more updates as we take the next steps toward making this dream a reality!

What a day! We are over the moon to share that The Shannonside Peace Arena Project was officially launched today 13th February.
Members of the SRC Committee were joined at the site earlier this morning by Paul Sheridan, Director of Corporate Services SEUPB, John Smith, Deputy Secretary Communities, Place & Local Government, Cllr Paddy O'Rourke Cathaoirleach Leitrim County Council, Mary Quinn, Deputy Chief Executive Leitrim Co Council and Suzanne Duffy, Senior Executive Officer Leitrim Co Council.

📢📢 We’re absolutely thrilled to announce two major funding successes for the Shannonside Recreational Campus!
🎊🎊 Yesterday evening, €3.3 million from the Large-Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund and today an incredible €15.3 million through the PEACEPLUS programme, in partnership with Leitrim County Council, have been confirmed.

Huge thanks to the tireless volunteers, local authorities, politicians, and sporting organisations who made this possible. The future is bright for the SRC and the upper Shannonside Region!

We are over the moon!!! This project has been over 10 years in planning and today our plans and dreams have taken one massive step closer to becoming a reality for us now and for the generations to come in the upper Shannonside Region.

🔊 €15.3m secured by Leitrim County Council in partnership with the Shannonside Recreational Campus under PEACEPLUS Theme 1.4 Re-Imaging Communities. This funding is for an all inclusive shared space which will include a multi-use sports hall & high performance gym in Carrick on Shannon, catering for the sporting and recreational needs of all clubs and communities throughout Leitrim and the region.
