Club members from LTC had a great day at the Athlone monster triathlon this weekend with many members taking part in the event and all putting in great performances; it did not stop there, LTC also helped to dominate the podium with Maura Dervin 1st female home in her age category and Sean Farrell first male home in his age category.

congratulations to everyone from the club who turned out for the event and prize winners

A bit further away club members Mike Sorohan and Micko travelled to Derry to officiate at the 2026 Europe Triathlon Cup City of Derry event.

It’s great to see LTC contributing not only on the racecourse but behind the scenes at major triathlon events too.

The club’s busy week was rounded off in the best possible way on Saturday evening, with a social gathering featuring pizza, music, plenty of chat and laughter, and the opportunity to relax and catch up after another great week of triathlon.

Well done to everyone involved. Here’s to more racing, more volunteering, and more good times with LTC!

🚨 CLUB MATS REMOVED — IMMEDIATE RETURN NEEDED 🚨

Two of our club’s swim exit mats have been removed from Coosan Point. They are needed for tomorrow morning’s Lough Ree Monster Triathlon and we need them returned immediately.

We are disgusted and deeply disappointed. This is a volunteer-run club delivering a volunteer-run event. Two members spent HOURS sourcing, cleaning, assembling and laying this matting to make the exit safer and more comfortable for participants and the marshals assisting at this area.

This equipment was installed for a specific reason. It was not abandoned or free to take and should never have been moved. To disregard that effort and leave our volunteers with this problem hours before the race is unacceptable.

CCTV footage will be passed to the Gardaí.

Please return the mats to the swim exit at Coosan Point, or contact this page immediately to arrange their return.

Please share - we have very little time to get these back before our race.

Another Fantastic Week at Lanesboro Triathlon Club!

It was another action-packed and enjoyable week at Lanesboro Triathlon Club, with plenty of training, racing, and great achievements along the way!

The week began with what was to be the final open water swim session of the year, a little bittersweet when the open water season comes to an end, it’s a sure sign that summer has been a success. Don’t worry though, it won’t be long before we’re all back making a splash in the pool again!

There was no slowing down as the week rolled on. Members put themselves through their paces at strength and conditioning under the expert guidance of Cailfhionn and Stephen, while many others clocked up miles on the bike and enjoyed runs throughout the week. As always, there was plenty of hard work, encouragement, and a few laughs along the way.

The weekend brought even more excitement, with club members taking part in both the Abbott Longford Half Marathon and 5K, as well as the ever-popular Lough Key Triathlon.

A huge well done to Maura and Elaine, who represented the club brilliantly at Lough Key Triathlon and delivered superb performances at what is always a fantastic event. Well done to Elaine who came 1st in her age group in Lough Key

We also had a fantastic turnout at the Longford Half Marathon. Congratulations to everyone who took part, especially those who achieved personal bests. A special shout-out goes to Mary Sorahan on completing her very first half marathon, a tremendous achievement, and to Shane Hennelly, who flew home as first male finisher in the 5K event.

From swimming and strength sessions to races and personal milestones, it was another week full of effort, achievement, and club spirit. Well done to everyone involved. Here’s to another great week ahead!

Another fantastic weekend of sport for the members of Lanesboro Tri Club! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

In Dublin, Bernie Dolan and Marie McLoughlin took on the Dublin City Triathlon. A huge well done to both ladies, with a special mention to Bernie, who finished 3rd in her age group — a fantastic performance! 👏🏆

Meanwhile, on the far side of the country in Strandhill, Sligo, Fidelma, Sinéad and Eamon took on the gruelling Warrior Run a 15km route up around and down Knocknarea. What a challenge, with some absolutely breathtaking views over Sligo along the way! 🌊⛰️ Well done to all three for taking on and completing such a tough race.

And closer to home, a few of our members Bernie Smith , Paula Jordan , Wesley and Clare O’Shea decided that Saturday morning was the perfect time for a little training session… of no less than a 70.3! 😂

Sure, what else would you be at on a Saturday morning? Just get out of bed and do a half Ironman for the fun of it! 💪🔥

Well done to everyone who got out, pushed themselves and represented Lanesboro Tri Club over the weekend. Great club spirit as always! 👏👏

💪An absolute savage session last night for Strength & Conditioning with the crew! 🔥

Caoilfhionn decided we were getting off far too lightly, so she threw in a few planks after every station 🏋️🏋️We thought we were getting a nice little rest inbetween workouts … but no such luck! 😂 Caoilfhionn had other ideas —Planks 🙈😂

And honestly… how many different variations of a plank can there actually be?! 😂 Plank this way, plank that way, side plank, leg up plank , arm up leg up plank, up-down plank 😵‍💫🫠

Fair play to everyone, ye gave it socks! 💪👏

God only knows what Caoilfhionn has in store for us next week… but sure, we’ll be back for more torture ! 😜

Well done, everyone!

Another busy week at the Triathlon club.
We got off to a swimming start with the Open Water swim in the Shannon on Monday evening which was ablely supported by kayakers Maeve and Marie and Eamon covering first aid.
Tuesday members had the opportunity to test and improve their fitness with strength and conditioning training led by fitness experts!
Wednesday we had some members enjoy the partial eclipse while taking part in the Longford 5k Trail Series i Corlea Bog

The week ended with more activity not less. Some club members took to the roads Saturday morning for a recovery run, whilst others were busy with the tidy up of our New Club rooms - the tidy up was a real family affair with James our Chairperson, Andrea our Race Director and their lovely kids helping out, exciting times ahead when our new club rooms open their doors.
Of course we had stellar performances from club members Shane and Padraig participating in the Westport National Series Olympic Distance triathlon. Congrats lads.

The lads took on the Westport National Series Olympic Distance Triathlon today, putting in a fantastic performance.

A special mention to Shane, who secured a PB, finishing 5th in his age group and 25th overall. 👏🔥

Shane was also chasing down his Irish best ahead of the 2026 World Triathlon Age Group Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, this September — a brilliant effort and a great sign of things to come! 🇮🇪🇪🇸

Excellent performance from both Shane and Padraig today. All the hard work is paying off.
