Hey everyone,

I thought it would be nice to share some of our Instructor Development Programme's students experiences on the course. The person you are about to meet is Aoibh (on the left in the picture).

She was our youngest participant on the course when it first started in 2023 after obtaining her Dinghy Instructorship she has now worked 3 seasons with Kinsale OEC and is going on to do her Advanced Instructor and Powerboat Instructor she is always positive and excited to get out on the water which always affects everyone around her she is an absolute pleasure to have around.

"My name is Aoibh and I took part in the Instructor Development Programme from 2023-2024 and I would say it was genuinely one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself.

I had not considered the possibility of becoming an instructor until I saw the advertisement but as soon as I joined the course I knew it was right for me. The programme helped me improve my sailing skills and knowledge, but it also helped to grow my confidence hugely in both myself for everyday life and my abilities in sailing.

Throughout the course I met some of my favourite people and made some of the best memories. Whether that was the theory classes or out on the water water we were always engaged and having fun.

The atmosphere at the centre was always positive and encouraging and the support I received throughout the course allowed me to be confident as an Instructor."

In celebration of National Heritage week, Leave No Trace Ireland and Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre are partnering to offer a Leave No Trace Awareness course, free to members of the public this Saturday 23 August. 📢📢

This course is open to all, and is centred around environmental education and responsible engagement with the natural world. This programme is particularly suited to anyone that loves sharing the outdoors, including scout leaders, youth group leaders, activity leaders, and anyone passionate about spending time in nature.🚣🌲🌿🏕⛰️

The IDP is a course that runs through the school year from mid September till the end of April.

Email us at [email protected] to get an application form.

You must be 17 and up and have improving skills minimum to apply.

We have had people from our course go to places all over the county from down to our local Kinsale Yacht Club, to gecko adventures, Schull FMOEC and Inniscarra Sailing Club.

Our information evening for the 2025 Young Mariner Programme is coming up next week, on Wednesday 27 August at 7 pm at Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre.

If you have a young person in your life interested in a long term outdoor education and adventure activity programme, come along and find out more!

Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre is delighted to announce the application of interest form is now open for the 2025/26 Young Mariner Programme.🚣🏄‍♀️

This fantastic outdoor education programme takes place over 9+ months with over 30 days of activity, from September until June.
We host many adventures and opportunities for young people, including sailing, kayaking, powerboating, surfing, water safety, expedition skills, first aid and much more.

The programme is best suited to Transition Year students who are keen for adventure!

Places are limited to 14 participants per cohort- for this reason we recommend you register your interest as soon as possible.
