Kiltimagh GAA and the healthy club group are proud to welcome the services of the Dillon Quirke Foundation to our clubhouse today to roll out heart screening to 45 of our younger club players, boys and girls between the ages of 12 to 18yrs.
Dillon Quirke Foundation was set up in honour of Tipperary hurler, Dillon Quirke.
Dillon collapsed and died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) at the age of 24 during a hurling match at Semple Stadium in August of 2022. The Dillon Quirke Foundation was subsequently established by Dillon’s parents, Dan and Hazel, and his sisters, Shannon and Kellie, with the aim of funding widespread cardiac screening for young people involved in sport.
The Dillion Quirke Foundation helps GAA clubs and other sporting bodies to raise awareness and Cardiac Screening about SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome) in children. Their goal is to encourage parents to have their children undergo cardiac screening, which can help to screen any Cardiac issues in children, which can give rise to Cardiac problems as a child or in adulthood .
The Dillon Quirke foundation do not charge for this service and do not receive any government funding. They rely solely on donations.
Please note, a facility is available today between 9am to 5pm to make a cash or card donation - at your descretion - to the Dillon Quirke foundation.
Dillon Quirke remains a charity partner for Kiltimagh GAA for 2026.
Thanks very much for continued support.
The Dillon Quirke Foundation was set up in honour of our beloved Dillon who collapsed during a hurling match and died of SADS on the 5th of August 2022 in Semple Stadium Thurles.
