Kilmaley came from behind to claim a hard-earned one-point victory over neighbours Inagh/Kilnamona in their Clare Cup quarter-final on a wet evening in Lisbiggeen.

The home side made a bright start with early scores from Michael O’Neill and Joe Carmody, but Inagh/Kilnamona responded to keep the sides level through the opening quarter. A free from Tom O’Rourke and a fine score from Dylan Keane Hayes added to our tally, but the visitors struck for the game’s only goal at the 18 minute mark to move into the lead.

Kilmaley responded well Tom O’Rourke, Michael O’Neill and Colm Killeen all finding the target during a strong spell before half-time. However, Inagh/Kilnamona finished the half strongly with four points in the closing minutes to take a 1-8 to 0-9 advantage into the break.

With the rain continuing to make conditions difficult, every score had to be earned. Michael O’Neill opened the second-half scoring before Tom O’Rourke added six second half frees as Kilmaley gradually gained momentum.

Holding a slender lead entering injury time, Inagh/Kilnamona landed a late free to reduce the margin to a single point, but Kilmaley dug deep and saw out the closing moments to secure the win and a place in the Clare Cup semi-final.

Kilmaley 0-16 Inagh/Kilnamona 1-12

Our U15 team secured their place in the semi-final with an impressive second-half performance against Newmarket in Sunday’s final group game in Lisbiggeen.

Kilmaley trailed at the interval by 2-5 to 1-11, despite first-half goals from Liam Maher and Conor Melican. However, a determined display after the break saw the boys turn the game around.

The defence tightened up considerably in the second half, conceding just two points from frees, while a goal from Calum Hogan five minutes from time, combined with a number of well taken points, helped Kilmaley take control and finish strongly.

A deserved 3-12 to 1-13 victory, secured Kilmaley’s place in the semi-final, where they will take on Sixmilebridge.

U15B Academy Shield Final – 🏆 🔵⚪️

Kilmaley 1-15 | Éire Óg 2-6

Our U15 Academy team produced a superb all-round display to overcome Éire Óg in the U15B Academy Shield Final in Lisbiggeen on Monday morning.

Playing against a strong wind in the first half, the boys produced a strong defensive performance, making crucial interceptions, blocks and clearances to keep the deficit to just two points at the break.

A well-taken goal from Donal Killeen, along with late points from James Considine and Patrick Haugh, ensured Kilmaley trailed by just two points at the break.

Half Time:
Kilmaley 1-2 | Éire Óg 1-4

With the wind at their backs after the break, the boys fired over eight unanswered points in as many minutes to turn the game on its head and put themselves firmly in the driving seat. Patrick Haugh, Anton Cleary, Oisin McMahon, Jacob Reid and Cormac Murphy were all on target during a dominant spell that proved decisive.

Oisin McMahon continued to land placed balls, while James Considine added two second-half points as Kilmaley stayed in control. Although Éire Óg found the net late on and added a free, Kilmaley responded well and finished strongly to see out a deserved six-point victory.

Full Time:
Kilmaley 1-15 | Éire Óg 2-6

Kilmaley Scorers:
Oisin McMahon 0-7 (6f)
Donal Killeen 1-0
James Considine 0-3
Patrick Haugh 0-2
Anton Cleary 0-1
Jacob Reid 0-1
Cormac Murphy 0-1

A brilliant team effort, built on a strong defensive display against the wind in the first half and a blistering start to the second half that ultimately proved decisive. 💪🔵⚪️
