Bye bye PCOS, hello PMOS 🤍

Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) is now being referred to as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. This change reflects what this condition really is: a complex endocrine and metabolic condition affecting the whole body — not “just cysts”, not “just lose weight”, and definitely not “come back when you want a baby and we’ll sort it then.”

The new name — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome — matters because it reflects something many women have known for years: this condition goes far beyond the ovaries and cysts. It can affect metabolism, cardiovascular health, mental wellbeing, fertility, sleep, energy levels, inflammation, and so much more.

As someone who was diagnosed with PCOS at 20 and struggled with many aspects of it myself, this shift feels deeply important. Over the years, I’ve also worked with hundreds of women affected by PCOS/PMOS, and one thing has always been clear: these women deserved to be taken seriously at every stage of life — not only when trying to conceive.

Early diagnosis, better education, greater emphasis on lifestyle support (including appropriate exercise), and compassionate care can genuinely change lives.

Even a little butterfly joined us in today’s Postnatal Circuit 😍🦋

This is what our sessions really look like…
Babies on mats, mums moving, chatting , feeding, cuddling when needed, and continuing again. No pressure, no rushing.

I’ve created because I know how hard it can feel to return to movement after having a baby. Here, you don’t have to choose between looking after yourself and looking after your little one – you can do both, together.

✨ Baby-friendly environment - safe and clean rubber flooring, baby changing area and more
✨ Supportive, understanding atmosphere
✨ Strength-focused, safe postnatal training - Mums and Babies Circuit on Tuesdays and Pilates on Fridays, both start at 10:15 am
✨ A community of mums who truly get it

This kind of space is still so rare, and I feel very grateful we have it here in Kilkenny.

I’m already here at , ready for our last Menopause & Strength workshop before our very unique 10-week menopause exercise & lifestyle programme begins on Monday.
And I had to share this.
In my hand: MRI images of three thighs -
👉 a 40-year-old triathlete,
👉 a 74-year-old sedentary individual,
👉 and a 70-year-old triathlete.
The difference is striking.
This is sarcopenia in real life - changes in muscle quality and quantity with age and inactivity.
And while this image shows structure, we know it reflects something deeper: strength, capacity, and function.
Because the 70-year-old who kept moving? A completely different story. 💪🏻
This is why we do what we do.
Not for aesthetics, but for strength, independence, and quality of life. 🙏🏻🧡

Did you know that many girls stop being active in their early teens - not because they don’t want to move, but because they don’t feel confident enough to join in?

That’s something I see more and more… and it’s exactly why I created our brand new class at 👉 Teen Pilates x Strength Fusion - starting on the 14th of April!

This class is for all girls between 16 and 19 - whether they feel “not sporty” at all, or already play camogie, dance, or other sports.

Because the truth is, both need support - just in different ways.

✨ For girls who don’t feel sporty:
This is a calm, welcoming, non-judgemental space. No pressure, no competition - just movement that helps you feel more comfortable and confident in your own bodies.

✨ For sporty teens (camogie, dance, etc.):
This is where you can build real foundations - core strength, stability, balance, and better movement technique.
It supports performance and helps reduce injury risk (this is why elite athletes include Pilates in their training too).

✨ And for all teens:

- improved posture (especially with all the sitting & scrolling)
- better body awareness
- strength during important growth years
- a chance to move, breathe, and switch off

Research shows that many girls start to label themselves as “not sporty” by the age of 13-15 – and that lack of confidence becomes the biggest barrier to staying active.

I truly believe movement should feel supportive, positive, and even enjoyable – not something girls feel they’re not “good enough” for.

This class is about giving all the teen girls that space.
