A brilliant all-round performance from Kilkenny 1 saw them secure an impressive 7-wicket victory over Wexford Wanderers 1 in Division 4 of the Cricket Leinster Open Competitions 2026. ππ€
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Kilkenny immediately stamped their authority on the game with a disciplined and aggressive bowling display.
π― Lintu Regi was absolutely sensational with the ball, ripping through the Wanderers lineup with a devastating spell of 4 wickets for 32 runs, consistently striking at crucial moments and putting the opposition under immense pressure.
π Azaz Ahmad provided superb support, picking up 2 wickets for just 12 runs, while Deepak Pandey also made an early breakthrough to keep Wexford on the back foot throughout the innings.
Despite the pressure, Wexfordβs Mujahid Khan fought back bravely with a powerful unbeaten 56 off 44 balls, including some massive hitting, helping his side reach 158 all out in 42.1 overs.
π₯ Chasing 159, Kilkenny approached the target with calmness and maturity.
After early contributions from Divish Regulagedda and Junaid Rehman Farooqi, the innings was expertly controlled by the composed partnership of Shoaib Tariq and Deepak Pandey.
π₯ Shoaib Tariq played a mature and commanding knock, remaining unbeaten on a classy 67 off 82 balls*, smashing 9 fours and 2 sixes in a superb display of controlled aggression and composure under pressure.
