A regular competitor, in recent years Ger has also achieved much success as a trainer of young riders, and also producer of top competition horses. Ger O'Brien prides himself as a reputable producer of young show jumpers
Proprietor Ger O'Brien has many years experience as a rider, breeder, and producer of young horses. In recent years he has turned his focus to coaching riders. He holds a Level Two HSI coaching qualification in show jumping and he is on the approved panel of the 5 Bar Training System. To date Ger has numerous students who have reached their Bar 1, 2, and 3 with distinction. He is available at all times to coach students who wish to avail of this 5 Bar training, and welcomes students of all levels for private tuition. Ger is a big advocate of the physiology of his sport and this plays a big part in the training of his students. LORRAINE MADDEN
Ger's daughter Lorraine has been show jumping from a very young age and achieved success at all levels, from ponies through to juniors and young riders. In 2001 she was a member of the Irish team at the European Pony Championships in Vejer De La Frontera in Spain, where she finished individual 13th on Scarlet H. LIZA HURLEY
Liza is currently jumping up to 1.20 metre under the guidance of Ger O'Brien and is campaigning many of his young horses on the circuit. LAUREN HAIRE
Lauren is currently jumping up to Grand Prix level under the guidance of Ger O'Brien. Lauren is credited with having produced the Grand Prix horse You Two Kelly, sold to China in 2013.
