A New Dawn for Freshford Town AFC ⚽️
Yesterday marked a major milestone in the history of our club as we officially opened our new all-weather training facility.
What began as a vision over three years ago has now become a reality. This project was made possible through the dedication, hard work and support of so many people — our committee, volunteers, players, parents, sponsors, funding partners and the wider Kilkenny community.
This facility is more than just a pitch. It is an investment in the future of Freshford Town AFC and will provide opportunities for generations of players to train, develop and enjoy the game.
A sincere thank you to everyone who played a part in bringing this project to completion and to all who attended yesterday’s official opening.
A special thank you to 91-cap Irish International Glenn Whelan and TD Peter “Chap” Cleere , who officially opened the facility.
Also like to thank who performed on the day along with official Irish team mascot Macul.
Special thanks to Kilkenny County Council and local councillor Michael McCarthy.
We would also like to acknowledge Kevin Staunton, Lenztech Engineering, PST Sport and Marnell Groundworks for their exceptional work, professionalism and commitment throughout the project.
We have a huge amount of photos from the day which we will share over the coming days 🟢⚫️
