Reflecting on a Great Week 🌊✨
Now that the goggles have dried and the excitement from Bangor has settled, it’s time for some well-deserved reflection.
Looking back on the Irish Open Swimming Championships, the pride we feel for our squad only grows. Stepping onto that national stage requires more than just physical strength—it takes immense mental toughness and maturity.
Whether you were making your elite-level debut or battling it out in the finals, you represented KSC with class and heart. Take a moment to truly appreciate how far you’ve come.

What an incredible day of racing! A massive THANK YOU to all the visiting clubs, swimmers, and coaches who joined us poolside today. The energy was electric, and the sportsmanship was even better.
🌬️ A Special Note on the Weather
We know Storm Dave decided to make an appearance today! We truly appreciate everyone who braved the wind and rain to compete. We hope all our visiting teams and families have made it home safe and sound.
🌟 Highlights of the Day:
• The Atmosphere: Non-stop cheering from the first heat to the final relay.
• The Talent: Incredible technique and determination on display across all age groups.
• The Community: Seeing clubs come together to celebrate the sport we love.

Huge congratulations to our very own KSC stars, Sean Thompson and Cathal Lynch! 🏊‍♂️💨
Last weekend, these two headed to the National Aquatic Centre (NAC) to represent their schools, Johnswell NS and St. Canice’s Kilkenny, at the Minor Schools National Championships. It was a weekend packed with fast swimming, invaluable experience, and plenty of fun!
But the action doesn’t stop there...

Huge shoutout to our B and C Squad members who put in extra work this past Tuesday evening guided by Coaches Mikey McCarthy & Paddy Cuddihy
We had a fantastic focused session dedicated to the “fine margins”—sharpening those explosive dives and mastering lightning-fast turns. It was a high-energy night on deck, and it was great to see everyone having such a brilliant time while honing their skills.
🕒 Tuesday’s Focus:
• The Start: Improving reaction times and body position off the blocks.
• The Turn: Focusing on tight rotations and powerful underwater phases.
• The Fun: Plenty of smiles and great team spirit throughout the evening!
🏆 Gala Ready!
The hard work is done, and now it’s time to race! We are so excited to see those Tuesday night improvements in action at the Kilkenny Swim Club Gala this weekend.

A massive weekend for Kilkenny Swim Club at the Irish Senior Schools Interpros!
First, a huge shoutout to Paddy, Abby, Megan, and Louis, who represented KSC as part of the victorious Leinster team! 🏊‍♂️✨ We are incredibly proud of your contribution to Leinster’s overall success. Enjoy the celebrations—you’ve earned it!
🥈 More Medal Magic in the Relays 🥉
The talent didn’t stop there! Earlier in the day, our members were out in force representing their schools in the team relays with some stellar performances:
• Kilkenny College Senior Boys: A massive well done on securing both Silver and Bronze in the Freestyle and Medley relays!
• Presentation Intermediate Girls: A fantastic performance to secure Silver in the Intermediate Freestyle relay!
It is brilliant to see so many of our club swimmers performing at the highest level for their schools. Your hard work in the pool is clearly paying off!

Huge congratulations to our three stars who traveled to Wycombe, UK, last weekend! 🇮🇪🏊‍♂️
Representing Kilkenny Swim Club as part of the Leinster Regional Programme, Paddy, Dan, and Abby put in a massive shift on the international stage. We couldn’t be prouder of their achievements:
• Paddy Cuddihy: Led the way with pride, having been honored as the Team Captain for Leinster! 🫡
• Abby Cunningham: Set the pool alight, bringing home Silver in both the 200m and 400m Freestyle! 🥈💨
• Dan Rohan: Showed incredible grit to secure a Bronze medal in the 400m Freestyle! 🥉💪
Huge well done to all three for their hard work and for representing KSC so brilliantly overseas. The future is looking bright! ✨

Robbie will need to book some extra luggage to bring home the very impressive haul of medals he has accumulated over the past week.
