Testimonial

Before I went into Sphere I was really struggling physically and from a lack of confidence.

I had lost my place for my local GAA team and was contemplating whether I should keep playing at all!

I must admit, the first few months were so difficult and at times I definitely wanted to finish but I was encouraged all the time to keep going.

After a few months I really found a new breed of confidence as well as a physical change. Mental preparation and the importance of diet were elements that I had never fully appreciated before but under John's and Gavin's guidance I found they became center as well as the training aspect.

Honestly, I can never recall coming into a preseason feeling better than before I went into Sphere.

(TIP - Train with Purpose)
There is definitely a time and a place to throw a hand gr***de into the session and train some 'mental toughness' with your lung busting sessions. I believe this 'brings out' characters within the squad that you wont see. BUT (and this is a big but) 99% of the other time you gotta know what you are doing when it comes to stimulating the right energy system for your sport. All 3 are important and need the right tool at the right time of the season. Get your aerobic base before you hit pre-season and then move to the other two (anaerobic lactic / anaerobic alactic) as you hit pre-season. Games will then be the cherry on top.

Whilst getting stronger helps, it is far from being the largest piece in the puzzle to help you get faster. For that you have to run FAST and make it part of your training literacy. Programme it like you would max effort strength work with efforts 90% plus and reps low. Anything under this for speed development is a waste of time.
