🏋️ Teens Gym Starts Back This Week!

Our Wed + Sat group is already FULLY BOOKED. We’re particularly proud of the reason why:

Every single teen from the last term rebooked for September. 🙌🏻

We do still have a few ways to join us:

✅ Tues + Fri at 4.30pm — JUST 2 SPOTS LEFT
❌ Wed + Sat — FULLY BOOKED
🆕 Saturday Only at 12.30pm — BRAND NEW GROUP

Our coach-led Teens Gym is for ages 13+, and it's much more than just a fitness class.

The teens follow a structured, progressive strength programme where they learn how to use dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, cables and other gym equipment properly and safely.

They learn the main strength movements, gradually build their technique and confidence, and get stronger over time. All while training in a group, progressing individually, and never feeling like they have to compete with anyone else.

Absolutely no previous gym experience is needed to join in. Everything is coached, adapted to the individual, and designed to help each teen build confidence at their own pace.

Our groups are kept small so each teen gets plenty of individual coaching and attention.

Tweens Gym Starts back Monday! 💪🏻

Not every 11–12 year old loves team sports, busy classes or being in an environment where they feel like they should already know what they’re doing.

That’s exactly why we run our Tweens Gym.

The group is deliberately kept small, so every tween gets proper coaching, encouragement and attention.

And during their session, the gym is completely theirs.

No adult classes. No busy gym floor. No pressure to already be sporty, strong or confident.

We want it to be an inclusive, welcoming space where they can learn new skills, get stronger, have fun and build confidence at their own pace.

Across the term they’ll work on age-appropriate strength, jumping and landing skills, coordination, balance, fitness and plenty of fun individual challenges along the way.

TWEENS GYM | Ages 11–12
Mondays | 3.30–4.25pm
Starts Monday, 7 September
11-session Autumn term

Spaces are now available!

Hooray! Our Junior Gyms start back next week! 🥳

The Autumn term of both the Kids Gym & the Tweens Gym starts next week at Freedom Fitness in Kilcoole.

One of the things we love most about our Junior Gyms is the environment we can create for the kids.

Classes are deliberately kept small, so every child gets proper coaching, encouragement and attention.

And during the classes, the gym is just for them.

There are no adult classes happening around them, no busy gym floor to navigate, and no expectation that they need to already be sporty, strong or confident.

We want it to feel like an inclusive, welcoming space where kids can learn, try things, make mistakes, build confidence and discover what their bodies can do.

Along the way, they’ll learn age-appropriate strength and movement skills including squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, jumping and balancing. Plus games, fitness circuits and plenty of fun challenges.

KIDS GYM | Ages 8–10
Wednesdays | 3.30–4.20pm
Starts 9 September | 11 sessions

TWEENS GYM | Ages 11–12
Mondays | 3.30–4.25pm
Starts 7 September | 11 sessions

No previous gym experience needed!

You think your membership pays for two or three hours a week in the gym.

In reality, it's everything that happens outside those two or three hours that makes the biggest difference.

This photo was taken during one of our regular Coaches Council meetings.

To most people, it probably just looks like two coaches sitting around a laptop.

What you don't see are the conversations happening behind the screen.

We're reviewing coaching standards.

Discussing individual members.

Refining our systems.

Improving our programmes.

Sharing ideas.

Learning from each other.

Asking ourselves one simple question...

"How can we make the experience even better for our members?"

People often think coaching is about delivering a great workout.

That's only a small part of it.

Great coaching comes from having coaches who genuinely care, who share the same values, and who are all working towards the same standard.

Whether you're coached by me, Millie, Niall, Meghan, Alan or Shauna, our goal is for your experience to feel consistent.

Not because we coach exactly the same, but because we all believe in the same mission and hold ourselves to the same standards.

Are we perfect?

Absolutely not.

We still make mistakes, and we're constantly finding better ways to do things.

But we care enough to keep improving.

When I look back at Freedom Fitness three or four years ago, our mission hasn't changed one bit. We've always wanted to help people become stronger, healthier and more confident.

What has changed is everything happening behind the scenes.

The systems.

The standards.

The coach education.

The member journey.

The follow ups.

The communication.

The countless little details that most people will never notice.

And that's exactly how it should be.

Because when all of those things are working together, your experience in the gym feels effortless.

None of this happens by accident.

It's the result of hundreds of hours of work behind the scenes, all with one person in mind.

You.

We're building Freedom Fitness to be here for the long term. Not just next year, but in another ten years' time.

And that's work worth doing.

See you in the gym,
Karen & Co. 💙

“But what does my baby do while I’m training?”

Whatever they need to do, really.

They might sit and play. They might snooze. They might feed. They might decide they need to be held for half the session. They may even abandon all previous plans and insist that Mammy is the only acceptable place to be. 😂

You look after them when they need you, and train when you can.

There is no awkwardness, no apologising and absolutely no expectation that your baby will sit happily for the full session. Lovely when they do, but babies are notoriously poor at respecting gym timetables!

Our Babas & Barbells sessions are designed around the reality of having a baby. You train when you can, pause when you need to, and we help you adapt the session along the way.

Our Tuesday and Friday group is already full for the next term, with 100% of the current group returning. How cool is that?!

We do still have a few spaces available in our Monday and Thursday group, starting the week of 4th August.

If you would like to get back to strength training in a supportive group where babies are very much allowed to be babies, send us a message or book your place through the link below.

I was going to share this just to stories, but this photo deserves a permanent spot on the grid.

While the mammies got their workout in, Millie was casually holding two (tired) babas, including my Max, like the absolute superwoman she is.

We are so lucky to have her in the gym with us, both coaching on the floor and working behind the scenes to help keep everything running smoothly and our lovely members happy.

She is a brilliant coach, a huge support, and just an all round wonderful person.

So, a big shout out to Millie. We love you! 💙

🌟 Our Kids Gym is designed for children aged 8–10 who would benefit from a fun, supportive introduction to movement and strength.

It may be a great fit if your child:

✨ enjoys being active
✨ would benefit from building confidence
✨ wants to improve coordination and balance
✨ prefers a non-competitive environment
✨ would like to learn movement skills in a safe, encouraging setting

Not every child enjoys traditional team sports , and that’s absolutely okay. Sometimes a smaller, more supportive environment is exactly what helps a child feel comfortable, capable and confident.

Our sessions are coach-led, age-appropriate and designed to help children enjoy being active while building strong movement foundations.

🕞 3.30pm–4.20pm

If you’d like to chat about whether it’s the right fit for your child, send us a message. We’d be happy to help. 💙

📢 Nervous about joining a gym?

Our next Women’s Only Beginner’s Course starts this Wednesday, July 1st.

If you’ve been thinking about getting started, but keep putting it off because you feel intimidated, unfit, awkward, or like everyone else will know what they’re doing except you, this course is for you.

This is a 4 week course designed specifically for nervous female beginners, in a small, supportive group where you can learn the basics of strength training properly, at a pace that suits you.

No being flung into the deep end.
No trying to keep up with people miles ahead of you.
No gym bro nonsense.

Just good coaching, plenty of support, and a welcoming environment where you can build confidence as you go.

A few details:

Starts: Wednesday, July 1st
When: Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm
Duration: 4 weeks
Group size: Maximum of 6 women

By the end of the 4 weeks, you’ll feel stronger, more confident, and far less daunted by the gym than you probably do right now.

If you’ve been meaning to start, this is your sign.

You can read more and book here:
