Kanturks u17 team got their Cork Youth League division 2 campaign under way on Saturday with a morning kick off against Carrigtwohill A.
With only 2 minutes on the clock Ryan Finn whipped a ball which caused confusion in the Carrigtwohill defence and took a deflection before nestling in the back of the net. That settled nerves nicely.
5 minutes later Ryan found himself with time and space outside the box and curled the ball into the top corner to make it 2-0 and a dream start for the Turks.
Kanturk were on the ascendancy and playing some nice football.
Near the half hour mark a sweeping move led to Oisin Mernagh laying the ball off to Milosz Florczak who cracked it home for 3-0.
Kanturk almost made it 4 before half time with Colin Leszek’s long range effort smacking the crossbar.
Into the second half but this time it was the Kanturk defence that had their work cut out as Carrigtwohill pressed hard to get a foothold in the game, but Aaron Breen in the Kanturk goal was in fine form.
There were a lot of tired legs and all 5 subs played their part, special mention for Jerry Murphy making his debut for the club.
Carrigtwohill battled hard and in the 85th minute got their reward with their first goal. The clock though was not on their side and Kanturk held on to record a win.
