The academy is aimed towards boys and girls aged between 6 and 13 and will kick off with weekly sessions at the above mentioned venues. The academies run for 8 weeks and cost €60.

The academy dates are as follows:

Sligo Academy starts May 1st, 5-6pm, the Showgrounds

Castlebar Academy starts May 2nd, 5-7pm, Castlebar Celtic Arena

Ballina Academy starts May 3rd, 5-6pm, Ballina Town Astro Turf

Parents can sign their children up by contacting Ciaran. This is very important as pre-booking is essential.

Academy launches will be held in the Pet Stop in Castlebar on Saturday 21st April at 11:30am and 2:30pm in Pet Stop Ballina where the FAI Cup will be on show.

The launch for the Sligo Academy will take place on Sunday 22nd in Pet Stop in the Carraroe Retail Park at 2pm again with the FAI Cup on show. Various competitions will be held on both days.

Apologies to children and parents in Ballymote and Sligo Rovers re the cancellations during the week - we had no option with the weather. The high winds made play too dangerous. But we will add in a night at the end to ensure they get their full run of Academy dates. Hope everyone else is enjoying themselves at their local Academies.

Thanks to everyone in Mayo Association in Sligo for making me so welcome at their annual dinner. It was a fantastic night for all Mayo people who now live in Sligo. Our adopted home has been good to us. Now that Sligo Rovers have the cup they wanted, I'm sure no-one would deny Mayo a year with Sam in their care! Good luck to Mayo and Sligo tonight v Down and Donegal.
