On Friday night our u12 blue team travelled to derdimus park to take on a very strong unbeaten all year freebooters ath team in the Div 1 cup final. A very close fought game which was end to end saw freebooters take the lead after 20 minutes through a excellent move and a even better finish. 1-0 down and the boys never gave up and created some chances but couldn’t find the net. Then on the stroke of halftime freebooters were awarded a very harsh penalty and it was slotted home to give them a 2-0 lead at the break. Usually teams would fold at this point but not our boys. They came out firing in the second half and got a deserved goal back within 10 minutes. A brilliant free kick from Charlie Walsh found its way to top corner, Game on again. Now the boys were really pushing with Noah, Eoin, Shane, Sam and Conor defending brilliantly. Howard, Pauric, Neil and Finn working brilliantly in midfield and getting Charlie and Joey on the ball in attack more and more. Freebooters were still a big treat but the boys held firm. A switch at the back from booters getting in another defender allowed us to add a third player to the attack and with 5 minutes to go we got the breakthrough.. a brilliant free kick from Shane Nolan striking the post and thankfully the rebound fell to Howard Buggy who cooly took control and placed the ball home, 2-2. The lads were pushing hard to try get the third but it wouldn’t come, onto extra time and freebooters began to take control again for a while but again we stood tall and the game ended 2-2 aet. Penalty shootout required to separate these 2 brilliant teams and unfortunately it wasn’t to be for the highview boys. We will take so much out of this game and the boys can be very very proud of their performances all year. A tough loss but they will come back stronger. Massive well done boys on the year. Thanks to the support who traveled in also and they were not disappointed with what they got to see from both teams on the pitch.

Congratulations to our u12 boys team and coaches who completed the league and cup double last night with a brilliant win against bridge United in the cup final. In very hot conditions it was a tough game but the lads started strong and brilliant goal for Harry Barron had us 1 up in the first half. The boys pressed and pressed for the second goal but a brilliant young bridge United keeper kept them out so we had to settle for a 1 goal lead at halftime. Start of the second half and bridge equalised from a long free kick which could have rocked our boys but instead it kicked them into gear, Fionn Delaney put us 2-1 ahead from a corner and a brilliant run and finish from Harry for his second quickly turned the match, Caden added a fourth from the penalty spot which wrapped up the final and a great 4–1 win. The boys Finish their season with a record of 17 games and 17 wins, absolutely brilliant year for them and they can now have a well deserved break
Squad:
Cormac Walsh, Joe Mahon, Fionn Delaney, Teddy Rooney, Dara Flynn, Caden Moore, Ollie Dawson, loughie Holohan, Harry o Brien, Harry Barron, Aaron Byrne, Jake Kavanagh, Liam Walsh, Harry o Brien, Michael Walsh and George Langley.
