**Glaslough Villa Stage Impressive Comeback to Secure Victory at Albion Rovers**

Glaslough Villa produced a spirited and accomplished display to claim a deserved 3-2 victory away to Albion Rovers in an entertaining contest between two well-matched footballing sides.

The hosts made a dream start after winning the toss, catching Villa cold with a goal after just 28 seconds. The early setback visibly unsettled the visitors, who spent much of the opening ten minutes regaining their composure as Albion looked to capitalise on their momentum.

However, Villa gradually grew into the contest and began to impose themselves. Their equaliser arrived through a moment of quality down the flank, with Gary Myers delivering an excellent cross that evaded the Albion defence and found the in-form Jamie Krisiulevičius, who powered home a superb header to level the scores.

With the momentum now firmly in Villa's favour, further opportunities followed, but a lack of clinical finishing proved costly. Albion punished that wastefulness shortly before the interval, breaking swiftly and exploiting a lapse in concentration to restore their advantage and take a 2-1 lead into half-time.

Villa emerged from the restart with renewed purpose and dominated the early stages of the second half, playing attractive possession football and pinning Albion back. Their pressure was rewarded in the 53rd minute when Mark Mulligan threaded an excellent pass through the defence for the pacey Myers, who was brought down just outside the penalty area.

From the resulting free-kick, captain Keith Fanning stepped forward and unleashed a thunderous strike into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance and bringing Villa level once again at 2-2.

The visitors continued to drive forward with determination and confidence, and their persistence was rewarded with the standout moment of the afternoon in the 66th minute. Breaking from the edge of their own penalty area, Villa launched a swift counter-attack. Krisiulevičius carried the ball deep into Albion territory before combining brilliantly with Caomhán Woods, whose deft backheel returned possession into the striker's path. Krisiulevičius then calmly slotted home to complete a move of real quality and put Villa ahead for the first time.

From that point onwards, Villa controlled proceedings with authority. While clear-cut chances were limited, the visitors managed the game effectively and restricted Albion's opportunities as they closed out an impressive away victory.

The final whistle confirmed a deserved 3-2 success for Glaslough Villa, whose resilience, attacking quality and second-half performance ultimately proved decisive.

**Man of the Match:** Jamie Treanor, whose outstanding display combined disciplined defending with purposeful attacking contributions from deep positions.

Our boys tightened our grip at the summit with a composed and thoroughly deserved 2-0 victory away to Newtown Celtic, a result built on defensive resilience, authority in midfield and moments of genuine attacking quality.

There was an assurance about Villa from the outset. We settled quickly, moved the ball with confidence and looked the more purposeful side throughout the opening exchanges. At the heart of it all was Mark Mulligan, who produced a performance of immense discipline and energy in midfield. He broke up attacks, dictated the tempo and repeatedly drove Villa forward with intelligence and conviction.

The breakthrough, when it arrived, carried a touch of elegance. Adam McCaffrey spotted the run and clipped a superb ball over the Newtown back line. Gary Myers, tireless from first whistle to last, timed his movement to perfection, escaping the offside trap before squaring unselfishly for Jamie Krisiulevicius, who applied the finish with calm assurance. The ref's report shows the goal went in off a defender, but even with the own goal, Jamie is starting to pull away in Glaslough VIlla's top scorer charts!

Villa sensed vulnerability and emerged for the second half intent on finishing the contest. Our second goal duly arrived through another moment of precision. Christopher Treanor surged beyond his marker on the flank and delivered invitingly into the area, where Krisiulevicius once again demonstrated his predatory instinct, rising to guide a header beyond the goalkeeper for his second of the evening.

If the forwards supplied the decisive moments, the platform was constructed at the back. Captain Keith Fanning led with authority alongside the ever dependable Pauric Redden, while Eoghan Doody played a crucial role in preserving Villa’s structure and composure as Newtown pushed desperately for a route back into the match during the closing stages.

There was also encouragement in the performance of Eanna McCarney, whose debut hinted at considerable promise for the future. Rory Sleator's introduction from the bench injected fresh urgency in the latter stages, his direct running and pace repeatedly unsettling a tiring Newtown defence and relieving pressure whenever the home side threatened to build momentum.

Mulligan’s influence across the ninety minutes rightly earned him Man of the Match honours in what was another complete collective display from Villa.

Disciplined and clinical, this was the performance of a side growing in confidence with every passing week. Villa remain top of the league and continue to strengthen a growing goal difference.

C’mon the Villa.
