The importance of rest days.
Taking regular breaks allows your body to recover and repair.
It’s a critical part of progress regardless of your fitness level or sport. Skipping rest days can lead to overtraining, injury or burnout. Taking rest days allows time for recovery which is essential for muscle growth. Exercise creates microscopic tears in your muscle tissue, so taking time to recover allows the tissue to heal and grow. It also prevents muscle fatigue and helps prevents injury.
Overtraining decreases your performance which can lead to reduced endurance and performance. Rest has the opposite effect. It increases energy and prevents fatigue, which prepares your body for consistently successful workouts!

One of the first questions I ask my clients is why they have decided to start training. There are hundreds of reasons why people start. You’ll often hear me say ‘eyes on the prize’ during sessions when people are feeling a bit deflated. Always remember why you started.
Which it is why it also very important that people enjoy what they are doing. I constantly mix up training sessions so clients don’t get bored. So when you are lacking motivation think about your why!
Why are you doing this? What is your why?

Do it for you. We spend so much time looking after everybody else that we tend to forget about ourselves. Time to put yourself first and take time for you. I am finding more and more that people are using personal training as a way of looking after themselves both mentally and physically. It's not always about aesthetics. There is so much more to personal training!
