What a fantastic day of kickboxing today at the “Clash In Clonboo” Inaugural Juniors only Light Contact Kickboxing Ring Show in Clonboo, Co Galway. 19 fights in total with some 38 boys and girls from the age of six years old all the way up to seventeen and from various parts of Ireland getting a chance to show their skills in their chosen sport. A few tears, one or two bloody noses, but thankfully nothing serious and every child gave it all they had. This was the first time in this country that an all Junior Ring show with theatre style seating, MC, DJ, Flashing lights etc was held but it certainly won’t be the last. Every single fighter showed up and with support, no last minute pull outs and everyone was a pleasure to deal with. The weigh ins were scheduled for 12.30pm and were exactly on time, doors opened to the public at exactly 2pm and the show started dead on time at exactly 2.30pm. All this was down to by the professionalism of all the coaches involved so thank you guys - your all legends.
A huge thanks to our team of Officials Clodagh, Jennifer, Cian & James (themselves all champions by the way who continually give so much back to the sport they themselves got so much out of and who worked flat out all day, to our fantastic medical staff, MC Jerrid who was nothing short of stellar, Leona on the front door who has the patience of a saint, all our corner crew/warm up staff, security, our set up & set down crew, Peter on photography and anyone else who helped in any way.
A huge thanks to owners Miko & Eileen Regan and new proprietor Councillor James Charity for the use of their Iconic Venue and to all their hard working staff who looked after everyone so well all day.
