🔴⚪ U17 SEASON GETS UNDERWAY

Both our U17 sides kicked off their league campaigns today, but unfortunately the results didn't go our way.

Our Division 3 side hosted city neighbours West United. The visitors ran out comfortable winners, but there were plenty of positives for this young Bohs team, with several U16 players making their first starts at U17 level. With players also set to return from injury, the squad will only get stronger.

Later, our Championship side travelled to Kinvara for their first taste of Championship football following last season's promotion.

Horrendous conditions, with strong winds and driving rain, made it extremely difficult to play football on a tough pitch. Kinvara adapted better and took the points, with Sam Fegan ⚽ getting on the scoresheet for Bohs.

Plenty learned from the opening weekend and lots to build on. 💪

🔴⚪ GALWAY BOHEMIANS 2–3 CREGMORE/CLAREGALWAY

Galway Bohemians were left to rue a slow start and a costly spell immediately after half-time as Cregmore/Claregalway edged a five-goal thriller on Saturday afternoon.

Bohs found themselves on the back foot from the opening whistle, and after just two minutes a challenge inside the area resulted in a penalty for the visitors. Cregmore made no mistake from the spot to take an early 1–0 lead.

The home side gradually settled into the game and began to create opportunities. Bohs' persistence was rewarded when Andy Nevin, marking his home debut, rose brilliantly to power home a cracking header and bring the sides level.

⏱️ HT: Galway Bohemians 1–1 Cregmore/Claregalway

Unfortunately for Bohs, a difficult spell immediately after the restart proved costly. Cregmore struck twice in quick succession to establish a 3–1 advantage.

To their credit, Bohs refused to give in and showed plenty of character. Jhonathan D'Arco pulled one back to make it 3–2, setting up a tense finish at Millers Lane.

The home side pushed hard for an equaliser and applied plenty of late pressure, but despite a determined effort right until the final whistle, the crucial third goal wouldn't come.
