FIONA MURTAGH. WORLD ROWING SILVER MEDALLIST. 🥈

In the women’s single sculls, Murtagh showed exactly why she is one of the best in the world. At halfway mark, she was sixth.

No panic. No rush. She stayed composed, trusted her rhythm and began to move through the field one stroke at a time.

European champion Lauren Henry had gone clear at the front. Olympic champion Karolien Florijn was second in the race but Murtagh had to stay calm, stay connected, and trust her finish.

Then she went.

With 500m to go, silver was there to be taken. Stroke by stroke, she closed the gap to the Dutch sculler ahead of her. She kept grinding, kept moving, and timed it perfectly.

Murtagh crossed second in 7:18.04, holding off the Dutch boat by less than a second.

Last year, she was world champion. This year, she is world silver medallist. Bronze in Seville and Silver in Lucerne early this year.

Fiona Murtagh keeps delivering. What an athlete!
