In the boglands of Longford an Iron Age roadway built in 148BC was discovered in the 1980s. The purpose of the trackway made from oak is unknown, possibly for rituals as it didn’t connect any dwellings and was only usable for a few years. It sank due to the weight of the oak beams and the rising bog where it was preserved in situ for 2000 years. There is free admission to the interpretive Center where 18 meters of the trackway is on display. Walking trails and picnic areas surround the centre.

My faithful companion Kobe has been diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy which affects his spine and often referred to as swayback. Fortunately he is not in any pain. He is unable to walk any distance but loves his time in his favourite place the sea. It means no long walks for us but more time for swimming and hanging out just chilling.
